Also, how hard is it to consolize a board?
If you have basic soldering skills its not too difficult. I bought my board on the Neo-Geo forums, the community is more based around passing the stuff along and you'll find much better deals there than on eBay.

Mine consisted of a $20 arcade power supply, a $15 Jamma harness, $4 15-pin D-Sub connectors, and a $60 neobitz-s video encoder. I had project enclosures laying around, but none were big enough for the power supply and I couldn't find a larger one locally. You can try to find one, or build your own. It probably won't cost you more than $20 either way.

Now, you can build your own video encoder (neobitz sells kits, I was just in a hurry to get this done so I picked up pre-assembled). There are also a few articles around about harvesting one from original model Playstations. This will save you a couple bucks. If you have a lot of wiring and patience, you can also wire up your own Jamma harness, which can save you a few dollars.

You can also use a PC power supply to save a couple bucks, but the arcade ones require a lot less fussing for a minimal investment.

That being said, $200 for a pre-made one is a great price. If you want to do the project yourself, have parts laying around, or are capable of cutting some of costs then by all means do it. Let me know and i'd be more than happy to help you out.

Also, MAME is a typically 1p experience where most of the Neo games are a 2p experience.
To be fair - with the USB sticks, it's really easy to add multiple players. You can get a 360/PS3 stick running on there in a matter of minutes, and with most computers having HDMI (or if the TV has VGA) outputs, you can have a fairly decent experience with it.

To each their own. I don't think either way is a terrible option.

I actually made a bonehead mistake and completely forgot which game I needed.

The first 2 AES games I was hunting down were SvC Chaos and Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer. I had bid on both on ebay auctions from trusted sellers and was "in the lead" on both.

Then a guy on neo forums posted both games - so I pm'd to say I was interested in both, had to see how something panned out. After the auction, I let him know I would buy Voltage Fighter as I thought I had won SvC Chaos.

Boring story conclusion - I now have (2) copies of Voltage Fighter and (0) copies of SvC Chaos. My bad luck w/this game continues

Years back when computers were struggling to run NES emulators and Nesticle was the best one around I did not mint emulating. It was a great option for a guy with a new born to save tons of money. Now that I am staring at 40 (I see you damn it!), I really choose not to emulate. The experience of real hardware. is just so much better to me.

This is not to say that emulating is wrong or bad just not my thing. Though I thanks EVERYONE for there advise and opinions greatly. There was a time when I had to, now I dont. That does not mean I have tons of money to buy whatever I want, but can get things over time. I still burn the occasional Saturn/3DO/Dreamcast game to try before I buy. I will also burn a few of the NGCD games just to try out and see if I want them.

The funny thing is that I have a modded and fully loaded Xbox sitting right in front of me. All of the input is great and I really appreciate it and welcome, it has all helped me. I do apologize if I derailed this thread though.

Sounds like I want to buy one pre done. Not that I couldnt do the work but my free times comes down to very limited hours and I want to maximize em playing not working on em. Sounds like what I need to do is watch the Neo forums and grab a deal when it comes up. Though making one sounds fun as hell, I just cannot give it the time it deserves. Been working 6 days a week for almost the last six years straight. Sunday is my only free day so I want to play LOL.

The main thing I am hoping for in a multi cart is that I can get the games that did not appear on CD. My whole main reason for wanting an MVS.

To MJMJR, I have that 2 player Playstation arcade stick, has anyone ever tried that out on an MVS? I have SNK sticks, but I thought that would be fun to play with my daughter. I could "accidentally" slide the controller a little if she begins to beat me LOL.

You're on the right track, post a WTB ad on neo forums in the wanted to buy section, put a price point of looking to spend around $200 for a working CMVS w/2 controller inputs. Up to you if you wanted to add something like, "Will pay more for nice enclosure or Component video out, etc" That would up the price of course.

You can mod most any stick to work on neo 15 pin inputs, the one you have would work, though it's a pretty small (thin) encasement. I have an HSS-0130 modded with neo cables (that is the big sega saturn arcade 2p stick) and it works excellent and is what you are looking to do with your Blaze Twinstick. Someone else might be able to assist with the mod, I didn't do mine, so not sure on the slickest route (padhack a cd pad or what not).

A PS2-->NG adapter does exist but i'm not sure how easy they are to find if you wanted to avoid modding your stick, just put an adapter on and off you go. I believe Tototek made them and they sold for around $20 - no idea what they sell for on ebay / forums nowadays. I'd suggest the same idea, a WTB (2) Totatek (or other) PS2-->NG adapters ad. In the meantime, just use whatever neo controllers you currently have.

Since you have a NGCD, you could just do this:

EDIT:
Here's one that has been on neo for a spell and hasn't sold yet, I wouldn't pay $250 for the system, it's a bare bones unit, i'd suggest $200, however he offers the carts for an additional $100 and that is a very good price on those (Blazing Star is $55-ish itself).

Maybe offer him $320 shipped for the whole setup?

I've dealt w/him a couple times - nice guy. If you aren't on neo, let me know and I can get you guys in touch if you like.

@wclem - Like I said, as long as you stay away from fighters, the NGCD is not a bad console at all. I've had mine for about 2 yrs. now, and it only fueled my wanting to play more NG games.

I'm not sure about the compilations though in comparison to the originals.
I have all the ones I'm aware of besides the SNK Arcade Classics.

I have World Heroes, AoF Anthologies, and both FF Battle Archives on PS2, as well as SamSho Anthology, Metal Slug Anthology, and the Orochi Saga on Wii.

TBH, without doing a side by side comparison, they all are pretty solid, IMO. The only one I find iffy is the SamSho.

I would encourage anyone to take things one game at a time. I find that I really value the experience and sink worthy time into my investment. Arcade gaming is best enjoyed at a slow satisfying pace, hince the huge prices for certain boards these days. I may have to spend $400-500 for a legit Progear if the east coast group buy goes through.

If that's a legit hack, Wclem picked up the CDZ, not the regular CD we have that needs some TLC.

It's a legit hack, but not the way it appears, the CD mobo is gutted and a 1-slot MVS mobo is inside there, then the guy just extended out the controller / AV / AC ports to align w/the NGCD encasement.
