September update!:

Key:Red = Completely given up, Black = Intending to finish

Nintendo Land Wii U
Blaster Master Wii VC
Scribblenauts DS
Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins PSP
Aero Porter 3DS eShop
Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS
StreetPass Mansion 3DS eShop
Shantae 3DS VC
Final Fantasy VII PS1

Games off the list: StreetPass Garden, Super Princess Peach
Games on the list: Final Fantasy VII.

2 off, one on this month. The only new entry this month is Final Fantasy VII, which I'm pretty early on in (I just recruited Yuffie after exiting the Mythril Mines). The games not been capturing me much, and progress is slow. Ideally, I'd like to have it finished by next month's update, but with Ace Attorney 5 and Pokemon Y out this month, and a couple of other games I intend to play through like Tales of Monkey Island, Botanicula & Last Window, I'm not incredibly optimistic.

Whelp, I managed to make it all the way to the end of September before I had to declare one but here we are:

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (Wii)

It's not that I can't beat it. With enough tries and reloads, I can beat any mission. It's that the game has made me not want to. The organization of the game is all over the place and I never know which characters I'll have available from one battle to the next - so every battle is an exercise in frustration where I can't solve the challenge myself; instead I have to figure out the exact solution the developers intended through trial and error.

And I choose not to.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

1. Genji Dawn of the Samurai (PS2)

Man this game has a lot of ... visual, polish. The soundtrack is absolutely amazing too. Graphically this has to be one of the best looking PS2 games hands down, coming out in 2005 I believe, so it was pretty late to the party.

To bad that's all it has going for it.

Coming out of replaying all the Devil May Cry games, Onimusha, Metal Gear Rising earlier this year, and hell Zone of Enders... just something about Genji's gameplay was some of the most boring stuff I've played this year. It has that weird knack of hit detection just failing to give you that rewarding omph/jolt, you can't even explain it, but attacking enemies in this felt like I was slashing my weapons at the air. Just no satisfaction at all.

I know it's apparently a super short game, but yeah. I just had no desire to keep going after awhile. The encounters were so predictable, there's items/equipment for the sake of pointless added fluff, the bosses aren't even more fun than anything else... topped off with having to play as this other second character who can access different parts of the levels, and vice versa. But it's just so bare bones and repetitive, it just wasn't cool having to backtrack for pointless stuff.

Dirt cheap and thankfully so. Check out the OST sometime, but yeah.

Nintendo Land Wii U
Blaster Master Wii VC
Scribblenauts DS
Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins PSP
Aero Porter 3DS eShop
Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS
StreetPass Mansion 3DS eShop
Shantae 3DS VC
Final Fantasy VII PS1
Pikmin 3 Wii U *NEW*
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies 3DS eShop *NEW*

Games off the list: none
Games on the list: Pikmin 3, Ace Attorney 5

Both new games on the list this months are games I've been enjoying, but havent finished. My game playing last month went way down due to getting into the routine of my new job, so I'm hopinh to pick up the pace again this month and finish both.

Well, I played through Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story on the easiest setting, and while I reached the end, it's only halfway through the actual game, so I'm not counting this as beaten.

I dislike this game, because apparently it operates under the opinion that Bruce Lee was a little bitch who couldn't kill a fly if he punched it full force. Hit boxes are erratic at best, the controls are poor, and Bruce Lee feels weak. If you want to know how much of a failure of a game this is, let me repeat that last sentence: BRUCE LEE FEELS WEAK.

So no, I won't be moving on to try and beat this one and clear another fighting game out of my SNES backlog. This game is bad, and its makers should feel bad.

It does that thing where after half the stages, it says "Thanks for playing! Now try the next difficulty to continue the story!"

It's not uncommon in fighters of the era. However, having played on higher difficulties, the problems become more glaring.

Won't be beating Wipeout Fusion. Not sure what went wrong at Studio Liverpool but the game has none of the finesse or cool of its PS1 predecessors. The starting ships are either too slow, too weak or hard to control and the tracks would be better suited in Star Wars: Pod Racer.

I was really looking forward to this, but it's bollocks and there is no point in playing it when you own any of the original trilogy.

The Last of Us. I've done something so that in the level with all of the busses (at 94%) the game's audio gets delayed&weird then freezes. Shame

Isn't there an option to restart the level/checkpoint? I can't remember for sure.

It'd be a shame not to witness the end of TLoU.
