To our friend Breetai. We're all going to miss you buddy.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

No one ever quite knows the best thing to say during these times. We have so many thoughts and feelings and just nothing seems to fit. I think that is just fine, it is ok to just speak what comes to your heart.

Blake was a very opinionated and passionate person, a man of strong faith. Our personal relationship was via PM and such, so there are definitely others on this board and on the PCE boards who knew him much better. I like to think in my experiences, that he was the sort who wouldn't have had regrets. He made firm and thoughtful decisions in his life.

As men of faith, and men who enjoyed their shmups, we talked often of a meetup and things were very close this past November. His town was about 3 hours North of mine. About a week before a potential meetup, he pm'd me to let me know he couldn't make it - he would have his daughter that weekend after all. That was always at the forefront of his thoughts. It wasn't "eh, if I feel up to it" or "naw, don't want to take time off of work", it was strictly if gaming meant less time with his daughter, then nope - no go. Priority one was his family and being a strong father.

I will miss you my friend, Godspeed.

Breetai was always a guy I meant to get to know better but just never found the time or the right thread. It really says something about his character that I did not really know him all that well and yet I still feel like something is lost.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

This is sad and upsetting and my thoughts go out to his family. I am very glad to hear that his daughter will be well.

So I decided to look back at some of the discussion that Blake and I had via PM. As others have said he was friendly, helpful and pleasant 100% of the time. Just a great guy and very knowledgeable about the hobby that he loved. I'm glad I have never emptied my inbox and that we had some pleasant exchanges.

I'm sure I didn't know him the best on here and I wish I would have known him better but I am glad that I had to chance to interact with him. I am deeply saddened and shocked by this loss.

I always wondered what I'd say if something like this ever happened on a forum I was on, and now it has I still don't really know. This is terrible news and my condolences go out to all of his family and friends. He'll be sorely missed around here too.

After reading this and almost being in a bad wreck today, I think I'm making myself a contingency plan. I am very glad that his daughter will be alright.

Some family members and I also almost got into an accident today as well, with a pick up truck too. I guess this sort of thing can happen to anyone. Holidays can be a dangerous time. I'm glad for his daughter too, though I wish she still had a father

Really sad to hear this news. I don't post here very often, but being a lurker here for a few years i've always looked forward to what Breetai had to say on various subjects. I never knew him personally, but judging by the positive and intelligent posts he left here i can say he will be greatly missed. My condolences to his family and friends.
