Gaming Goals:

1. All the games I haven't beaten from this generation, finish 'em.
For the most part, yes. There's probably 4-5 games from my collection I've had but didn't get around to.
2. Go through the Yakuza Series, starting from the beginning.
Somewhat, beat 1 & 2, never got around to 3 and 4.
3. Beat some shmups and beat-em ups.
Gunstar Heroes, Yakuza 1 & 2, Ninja Turtles the Arcade Game. I'll chalk this up as a success.

Collection Goals:

1. Limit the new games I pick up to a few select titles in the year.
Not so much. Picked up a 3DS, several Dreamcast Titles, and recently a lot of cheap Xbox 360 Hits.
2. Slim down some of my older titles and stuff I don't play. Trade 'em, sell 'em, to pick up childhood greats.
I will say yes. I slimmed off around 20-30 games I had very little continued interest in. This did keep my costs fairly reasonable.
3. Get some of the cooler, unique titles for the Wii. Let's tap was a hit with the girlfriend, so other titles like that might be worthwhile.
Fishing Resort is probably the only one I can mention here. It's great and I need to play it more. I'll say no to the goal though.
4. Replace my 72 pin or do other things to fix my NES and carts.
Done and done. Really pleased how easy this was to keep my NES in great form.

4.5/7

Since 2013 is almost over, I am updating my progress on my aspirational gaming goals, which, like my personal resolutions, I "kind of" accomplished....
prfsnl_gmr wrote:In 2013, I would like to:

* Round out my N64 collection;
* Round out my GameCube collection;
* Round out my Xbox collection;
* Acquire inexpensive, complete Wii games before GameStop gets rid of them;
* Photograph my collection.

If I acquire eight more N64 games, I will be completely satisfied with my collection. (Unfortunately, some of the titles that I am seeking - such as Bomberman 64: The Second Attack, Clayfighter 63 1/3: Sculptor's Cut, Harvest Moon 64, and Starcraft 64 - may be hard to track down at a reasonable price.)
I actually acquired ten N64 games this year...but I kept expanding my want list to the point where I am still seeking 21 games. :? I am only seeking a few valuable games, however; so, I think I will make this a goal for me again in 2014.
prfsnl_gmr wrote:Likewise, I am seeking only 24 GameCube games and 28 Xbox games, and it would be nice to round out my collections for each system. (It is unlikely that I will be able to track them all down in the wild next year, but it would be nice to be closer to my goal.)
I also acquired 13 GameCube games and 58(!) Xbox games, but I still have 28 games on my GameCube want list and 33 games on my Xbox want list. Although a few of the GameCube games will be expensive, I am not looking for anything too valuable; so, I think I can polish off at least one of these collections in 2014 if I focus on them and change the way I acquire games.
prfsnl_gmr wrote:I also think that GameStop will be clearing out its Wii games in 2013; so, I hope to acquire as many games for my collection as possible. Once GameStop clears them, I think it will be a lot harder to find complete, inexpensive games at a good price in the wild.
I accomplished this in spades. I added 85 Wii games to my collection this year, and I will probably continue adding games as Gamestop continues to drop prices. By the end of 2014, I see myself with only a few games left on my Wii want list (and absolutely no place left to store them...).
prfsnl_gmr wrote:Finally, I would really like to start a collection thread, but I have not yet found the time to photgraph my collection. Accordingly, I would like to set aside some time next year and photgraph my collection. (By my estimates, I have somewhere between 1500 and 2000 games.)
My schedule did not permit me to do this, but I may yet find some time to photograph at least part of my collection over the holidays.

3/4 through the year. How is it going guys?

[quote]Gaming
- Try to get 3 or less unfinished games per system on my backloggery by my birthday (December 24th).
Nope.

- Beat at least 2 Final Fantasy games in my collection.
Nope. 0.

- Beat 50% or more Together Retro games out of the months I participate in.
Played Bubble Bobble, Fantastic Dizzy, Parappa. Beat all 3. Played Zork, didn't finish it.

- Beat a game on every console I own.
13 down, 13 failed. Only managed half.

- Beat at least half of the games left on my Games Not Beaten 2012 list at the end of December 2012.
Yup.

Collecting
- Limit myself to 3 new games per month maximum - with exceptions: If I buy a new system that comes bundled with games, they don't count to that months total, and games bought for Together Retro don't count either. The idea here is to make myself buy the games I really want that may cost a little more, by buying less random crap!
Not even close

- Buy at least 1 game for each system I didn't buy a game for this year (Gamecube, Saturn, 3DO, NGPC, Turbografx, Pokémon Mini, Virtual Boy)
Progress: I bought me a Turbografx game (Somer Assault)! Unfortunately, that's it.

- Focus more on handheld games over console purchases (50% or more handheld for new purchases in 2013)
Eh, probably?

- Buy a Wii U
Another successful mission at least :lol:
