In Ironman it saves after every decision or what? Could you restart the mission if you chose?MrPopo wrote:I've looked into things, and it seems the big difference between Classic and Impossible is that Impossible makes your first month a living hell. Coincidentally, properly executing your first month is the key to success in Ironman; if you do it properly you can generally take things into the end game even if you have a catastrophic loss later (I lost my fully trained squad including a couple Colonels in one mission, with only a single Sergeant surviving and was able to rebuild).

Correct, Ironman saves after every decision, as well as regularly during the Geoscape view. It's a "live with the consequences" mode.Stark wrote:In Ironman it saves after every decision or what? Oddly, I feel like I'd be more prone to buy it if it were a stand-alone release (like they did for Undead Redemption for instance) than I am to buy a 2nd copy of the game.

Coming in November! PC expansion, or stand-alone console versions!

I got to see some gameplay at PAX. All you need to know about this game is the Mech can punch an alien off a dam.

Re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown (on 360/PS3)
started a new game of Enemy Unknown on PC this week. This is the 3rd time I've started a campaign. I just don't tire of this game. Love it.
So far my rag-tag crew consists of defacto leader Stark, pretty boy dsheinem, the reluctant hero mjmjr25 and wise-cracking Ack. We just helped escort a business man out of China because he promised to share some shady technology with us that he was smuggling in his briefcase. (Pretty sure there's some missions here that were not in the 360 version... maybe?)
Really looking forward to Enemy Within.

So awesome! I need to play some more, in my current campaign you're one of my only guys to bite it. I almost replayed the mission, but I had captured a Thin Man and done really well otherwise. Dave is an excellent assault dude in mine. I think MrPopo is a sniper and a girl, but I can't remember.noiseredux wrote:started a new game of Enemy Unknown on PC this week. I've only been naming my squad as I recruit them for actual missions. That's why there's no Popo yet. Popo is totally a girl.Stark wrote:I think MrPopo is a sniper and a girl, but I can't remember.
I genuinely think Enemy Unknown is one of my favorite games this generation. Like, Top 10 material. It's just one of those games I cannot seem to tire of. The sort of comfort game that if I have 30 mins to burn, I'm thrilled to fire it up. I mean, I've sunk 10-20 hrs into each of my last two campaigns, and yet I'm more than happy to start it from scratch a third time.
EDIT: What's up with co-op, btw? Some of us should get in on that.

All I can say is I better have Squad Sight.Stark wrote:I think MrPopo is a sniper and a girl, but I can't remember.

Hah, I don't think I ever choose whatever the opposite perk of Squad Sight is.MrPopo wrote:All I can say is I better have Squad Sight.Stark wrote:I think MrPopo is a sniper and a girl, but I can't remember.
