I played one today for 10 minutes @ Best Buy (PilotWings) after spending an hour with it earlier this month at PAX. The 3D effect in PilotWings worked marginally better than any other game I've played so far (several AR games and SF4), but the basic idea of a handheld that has small "sweet spot" just doesn't work in practice. Unless you play sitting perfectly still (not moving your hands or head), the 3D effect gets blurry and everything looks like shit.final fight cd wrote:dammit! i was at best buy yesterday and i didn't even look to try out their demo unit!![]()
i don't plan on buying one, but i REALLY want to try it out.

...but people spam fireballs and shoryukens online even WITHOUT instant specials.hashiriya1 wrote:Just got mine last night. I picked up SFIV, Pilotwings, Ridge Racer, and Steel Diver. I would be playing it right now but the damn thing is on the charger again! SFIV online was fun...when you're playing against somebody who knows the basic principles of Street Fighter. I hate the fact that you have instant special moves. Because of this, online games are full of fireball and shoryuken spammers. That's ALL THEY DO. It's an easy way to earn points, but it's also BORING!
Re: Nintendo 3DS
I just played a couple fire ball / dragonpunch spammers. They are a LOT of fun. It's like they can't find any button except 'whirlwind kick' and 'fierce punch'. You can just poke these fools to death until they rage quit.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I went to Target today around noon and they had plenty in stock. I think like 10 Blue and about 5 Black units. I went to Best Buy today also, but they kept the 3DS at Customer Service so I couldn't see how many units they still had available.gtmtnbiker wrote:Any reports of people shopping at Walmart, Target, or Toys-R-Us? How is the availability of the 3DS in those stores?
I also was driving home around midnight last night and drove past a Gamestop that was having a midnight release for it. My friend and I went inside and only saw like 25 people there. I was a little disappointed cause I thought it would be more packed.
The 3DS launch might be like the first print of the Super Mario All-Star Limited Edition for the Wii. When it first came out you can find them anywhere than like a week or two later they were nowhere to be seen.

Personally, I'm going to wait for more games & an XL edition to be available. I really like my DSi XL a lot, never thought that I would until I tried it out.

I've got some questions for you guys...
Does anyone have any complaints about the system? (Unless you've already posted your complaints.)
How well do the DS games run on it? (Or has anyone run into any issues thus far?)
Is there a slot for the 32X add-on?
Is the d-pad comfortable to use?
And how does that control stick/nub/thing handle?
I don't have enough money to get one now and more than likely I'll get the next hardware redesign if they make one soon. Hopefully they won't come out with a 3DS Lite next month.

I don't have any huge complaints but here are the things I have noticed:Opa Opa wrote:I've got some questions for you guys...

The D-Pad is kinda comfortable to use but it squeaks a lot. That's probably just because it is new. I would have like the d-pad to have a softer, more raised shape.
The control stick is QUITE comfortable to use. I didn't expect that at all. It is easily the most ergonomic thing Nintendo has created since the Gamecube controller.
DS games take about 8 seconds to load but once loaded they run just fine. Anyone complaining about image distortion probably hasn't actually used a 3DS. The colors are a tiny bit washed out but you can play with the brightness and fix that pretty easily, too.
My only complaint so far is that I wish more features were already available to use - about half the goodies on the system bring up a message reading 'this will be available to use after a future update'.

Is that an update on Nintendo's servers or is it a software update you'd have to perform on the 3DS (kinda like a PSP firmware update)?Flake wrote:My only complaint so far is that I wish more features were already available to use - about half the goodies on the system bring up a message reading 'this will be available to use after a future update'.

1. The only major complaint I have is that the styles is on the back and is a pain in the ass to take out.Opa Opa wrote:I've got some questions for you guys...

2. DS games run great. The only problem is that they're slightly blurry because it's stretched (But you can fix that by hold start and select when you select the DS game)
3. Nope.avi
4. The D-pad feel like a normal DS D-pad.
5. The nub-thingy feels great.
