Let me put it this way, things up top at GS corporate HQ are in a panicked frenzy. We were all told via email and a phone call last week that mentioning that we work for GameStop online, on any social networking sites or to anyone in person will be punished with extreme prejudice. (Violation of my rights anybody?)
What purpose would that serve?
To prevent anyone from exposing the inner workings of the company and their current non-public situation.
does a forum count as a social-networking site?
I don't really think this is odd. I'd be willing to bet that every company in existence would be displeased with their employees discussing their "inner workings" in a public manner.

Well, DUHH. It is hard to steal a game with the case.(seriously, who doesn't keep the cases)
You would be surprised how many people like to put their games in a CD binder. I remember going over someone's house from Craigslist to buy some PS2 games and he only had loose discs in a binder. From that point on, I always make a point of asking if it has manual/case.
I'm thankful for Amazon and Ebay or I would have to deal with Gamestop. My town sprouted 3 gamestop stores all within a mile of eachother a few years ago. I like to do the same thing there at I do at bestbuy, go in and look at things I plan to buy online.
I had such bad luck with scratched discs and "refurbished" used hardware I don't bother spending money in GS. It's fun to browse the stores and tell other customers where they can get better deals elsewhere in town though.
I was told to leave one a few years ago when the guy working there told me that Halo 2 was the greatest FPS of all time and that no other game had ever won as many Game of the Year awards and my response was simply Half-Life. He had never heard of a game mod, and after explaining to him how Counter Strike was actually part of Half-Life, his boss told me I was lying, to leave, and not come back.

hahaha WTF? They made you leave for "lying"? That's insane.
The one near my house has a few dbags that work there, and a very nice manager. In fact most locations tend to be that: one genuinely nice worker for every 3 jerks. But whatever. I go to Gamestop to buy some cheap GBA games. I make it a habbit to NOT participate in conversation with anyone there. haha.

God I hate the new used racks. Have to flip thru cases like the old LP records. Old way stacked like bookends exposed easier to find a title. Must stink for employees during an inventory update. GAMESTOP, GET RID OF THOSE STUPID NEW RETRO RACKS!
I don't like those cases either. It's like they don't want to sell anything from those racks. I dig through them anytime I stop in a Gamestop in a different part of town, but I never see anyone else digging through them. The way I do it though is to simply grab the entire stack of 8, lift it out, and then look at the spines and drop them back in. Much faster than trying ot flip through them, especially when overfull.
I will admit, I do bait them sometimes. But only when they are dicks. I havent been in a Gamestop in over a year though. After I was told I was a casual gamer for buying the Neo Geo Collection on the Wii...
