Of course it was going uphill. Reading all these ill-informed replies are the greatest. This thread is full of comedy gold and to be honest Inazuma's post where he posted his favorite rap songs was the top of mountain of this gold filled peak. After that post it was going downhill and I just wanted to speed it upnoiseredux wrote:I'm sorry. This thread is shit, though. I should know better than even check it. It just makes me annoyed. SRSLY this time. I'm done posting in it!Hobie-wan wrote:We've upped our standards so up yours too!noiseredux wrote:going downhill? When was it ever UPhill?

FWIW my last post was a dual meaning joke. Opinions are fine, just have a reason instead of a blanket statement.

I actually can't stand Dave Mathews, but it has to do with the fact that I was trapped in a car and had to listen to them for 6 or 7 hours strait.aaron wrote:Thank god we still have dave matthews and jimmy buffet keeping it realer than real.saturnfan wrote:Rap is such a degenerate form of music, and while we may be spared the vomit-like cacophony that is the music of "lil wheezie", we will undoubtedly still suffer from the music of all the other rappers.

The girl I was with had like all his official and unofficial stuff on her ipod, amounting to hours of material.noiseredux wrote:so that was like, what? Three songs?saturnfan wrote:

Honestly if you like rap, that's fine. It just annoys me how when I say I don't like rap, someone always has to jump in and say "you're not listening to the right kind of rap". Granted there are probably a few songs in any genre that someone will like, but if my preference is something else, why do I have to like rap? I get it, there are rap artists who are different from other rap artists. But why spend time listening to a type of music where I find maybe 1 song out of 1000 that I like, when I can listen to 3 or 4 artists in my preferred genre and find something good?

It could've been one song on repeat the whole time, there's no way to knownoiseredux wrote:so that was like, what? Three songs?saturnfan wrote:

I really don't have strong feelings about rap either way. However, after living in a pretty rough neighborhood where people were shuffling down the street rapping to themselves at all hours (no joke), and the area had all the problems that a lot of rap is about/encourages, the music really has no charm imo.

If someone says "I don't like rap" that's fine with me. If someone says "all rap is is just someone talking over 2 notes and it's not music,' I think that's ignorant.Jrecee wrote:Honestly if you like rap, that's fine. I agree. Part of what makes it unappealing is the stuff that surrounds it, and what a lot of it is about. The music appeals to the types of people who are more likely to take its message seriously. I don't think you could find another genre of music so connected to drugs, violence, gangs, and general ignorance.t0yrobo wrote:

And yes I know there are rappers who make a point to be the opposite of that, that doesn't represent all listeners, etc. etc.

You'll get this response from most fans of most music genres tbqh.Jrecee wrote:Honestly if you like rap, that's fine. It just annoys me how when I say I don't like rap, someone always has to jump in and say "you're not listening to the right kind of rap".
I listen to metal. I've gotten so many 'it's not music/it's inherently terrible' comments it's unreal. So yeah, rap fans. I can sympathize.
(I've heard plenty of rap I like, but it's just not really a genre I'm into so I rarely seek it out. Jedi Mind Trick and Ill Bill are both p. cool.)
