Deus Ex- does it stand the test of time?

I also enjoyed Invisible War. It's a good game despite what the internet says. My only problem with it really, was the ending wasn't all that great. Fun game to play though.

I never played the old ones.

In my totally biased opinion Thief: The Dark Project is the greatest game ever made. Or better yet even, Thief Gold. You are missing out!

Yea, the ending is kind of dumb. I usually just waste everyone for something to do. Leons a bitch though, he never lasts long.

I'm gonna! I swear! lol ... i spent too much time one day (making charts and shit) investigating the differences in walk buttons between the series installments so i could come up with a universal control scheme. And I messed around with the first level of Thief Gold. Just haven't gone full bore yet.

Don't judge Thief 1 by its first level. It's the most boring level* by far. The game gets more and more incredible the further in you go.

I have Deus Ex modded to look pretty, might throw in Biomond, haven't decided yet.

If you haven't played Deus Ex before I'd recommend you don't install Shifter or Biomod; do a vanilla gameplay playthrough.

Didnt judge it just felt it out. I didn't think it was boring. I feel like the enemy behavior and animations have to be taken with a big grain of pink Himalayan sea salt though.

I once got pretty far on the playstation 2 version and i forget why i stopped. So i'm not super foreign to it. But I probably will play the vanilla version first.

I recently loaded my pc up with the first 2 Deus Ex games, System Shock 2, and the original 3 Thief games, along with some others. I'm pretty psyched about it. I have Deus Ex modded to look pretty, might throw in Biomond, haven't decided yet. And I've already mentioned to deaf ears here that I'm a long time fan of Invisible War. Oddly enough after getting all these awesome games on my pc that's the first one I played. And it's the only one on the list that I have played (like 9 times over the years). Thief Deadly Shadows I like a lot and intend on catching up (The reboot was good enough but not as memorable). I never played the old ones. My cousin-homie did so I don't know how I missed them. System Shock 2 is also intriguing. So I have a pretty sweet to-play list. It's not helping that I'm going emulator apeshit too. I'm drowning. Finally got to play Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver (on "dreamcast"), that game is cool.

"pretty sweet to play list" is an understatement if I ever saw one. Good lord, I'm envious. What I would give to be able to experience Deus Ex, Thief 1-3, and System Shock 2 blind again. Feels like my computer almost accidentally exploded into awesomeness reading that.

Same people that hate Liberty Island from Deus Ex? I freaking loved the first levels to both these games.

Well just to emphasis the Ken Levine, dev teams, and spiritual successor connections, you'll feel right at home with System Shock 2. Everything down to the level design feels so very similar to Bioshock and vice versa. Shock 2 is probably my favorite of the games because I'm sci-fi biased, but heck yeah I love Bioshock 1, 2, and Infinite as well.
