The prequel was actually really really good though. I thought much better than the remake proper. Though really, I think the whole TCM series is pretty bad considering how amazing the original movie is. Then again I think that Hooper is a pretty bad director considering how amazing the original TCM is. Haha.
I might rate the original TCM as the best horror film of all time, though that's just if you asked me today  . Def a top three or four, though.

According to Wikipedia, the director, Tobe Hooper, apparently sought a PG rating for TCM since (and if you think about it, he is correct) the move contains no nudity, no drug use, no profanity, and very little on-screen violence. Apparently, the "tone" was sufficient to warrant an "R" rating.

(My wife and I also observed that, despite its title, almost no one in TCM is actually killed by a chainsaw...)

EDIT: I agree with Noise that Tobe Hooper is a pretty bad director...his recent films make that obvious. That fact, however, will not stop me from watching the complete 1979 Salem's Lot miniseries next month.

And yet it's still not as bad as "What if the Turtles are actually Aliens?"

Nothing was as bad as that. Nothing.

If his gun don't come out of his thigh they should burn everyone that worked on this movie to death. From executive producer to best boy assistant.

The 1998 restoration. I gather the other, studio butchered, versions aren't worth watching
The 50th Anniversary edition has 3 versions included. The Restored, Theatrical, and Preview Versions. It also has a reproduction of Orson Welles 58 page memo to Universal.

Watched Robocop last night. I was in the mood to watch it after seeing those pics of the RoboBayCop floating around. Such a great movie. ED209 is still one of the coolest robotic designs around.

It's a pretty perfect action movie isn't it? It's so raw and gritty. Love it.

What the fuck?! I was expecting this to be Saw on a desert and what I got was one of the most unpleasant things I've ever sat through (And I've watched Salo, Cannibal Holocaust and A Serbian Film :| ). I'm kind of shocked at how it passed with an R rating.
