I was playing Strikers 1945 arcade at my laundromat early today, my first time playing it actually. They also had marvel vs. capcom arcade.

I'm not really used to joy sticks so I didn't get too far in the game (only stage 2).

No shame in that, as long as you're going to play Chrono Cross after you finish it.

I don't think I will be unfortunately, unless you can recommend a good PSX emulator? I have a PS2 but Chrono Cross is expensive to get hold of (£25-£50 on eBay depending on condition).

Holy crap! is that for the PAL version of the game? It's a great game, but there's no reason for that price. I almost feel like giving you my copy to play....

As long as you have a computer from the last 6 years or so, PS1 emulation shouldn't be much of a problem, though. PCSX reload works well on my mac, and I hear a lot of Linux people swear by ePSXe. I'm pretty sure both of those started on windows, though, and if that's your platform, there might be something even better than those out there.

Started playing Symphony which is a game that combines music and a shmup. It works such that players can import their own music files into the game, and the game will build enemy attack patterns based on each song. The game is surprisingly addictive. Score attack is obviously one of the central things for the game, but I really just like turning my brain off and listening to my music while blowing things up. I started playing it last night. One minute it was midnight, the next it was 4AM...

Sadly Chrono Cross never got a PAL release.

I've jumped over the pole, but Mario magically appears on the top of the pole, 5000 points.

I think the people who have jumped the pole either are lying, cheating, or using a glitch (a'la motherfucker mike), or my skills are lacking. But I swear I've cleared the pole only to have mario go back to the pole.

I think you are correct. I have "cleared the pole" using a Game Genie, but anytime I landed well above the visible flag pole without a Game Genie, Mario would nonethless cling to the "invisible pole" for 5000 points. (Also, it would be a pretty obvious glitch if you could clear the flag pole without a cheat device...and I think that Nintendo would have removed the glitch when it was testing the game.)

I have two trustworthy friends who say they have cleared the post, but they think it may have been on SM All-Stars. That or they're just fucking with me.

I'm telling ya, on level 3-3 I clearly clear the post and mario goes back to the post.

All the videos I've seen on youtube are either cheats, glitches, or run on an emulator. Clearing the post is serious business now.

Still, there's plenty of copies of the game. That's one hell of a premium on the import.
