For quite awhile I didn't enjoy Metro while playing it, but by the end I was fairly impressed with the game. Very hard at times and it is pretty rubbish on the 360 compared to the PC, but overall I was impressed by it, really underrated game.

Yeah I had a friend tell me he thought the game was shit. I asked him what platform he played it on. 360. No surprise there then. It really is so much better on PC with decent hardware.

I've put off playing this game for awhile because of how different it is from Warioland 2 and Warioland 4. It plays more like a hacked Mario Land 2 ROM. Once I got used to it, this game really grew on me. It's so very different from Mario Land 2 - and a great example of why Nintendo RD1 was such a bad ass group back in the 80's and early 90's. This game was probably not an easy pitch to make to the Nintendo executives but I am glad they signed off on it.

Like Mario Land 2, this game has also aged very well. The control is spot on and the games plot is genuinely funny. The influence this title has had on all future Wario games is also quite obvious - this is a real piece of Nintendo history.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Finally picked up Fallout New Vegas again to finish it, the ending was definitely worth it. Good times.

TOTAL: 22

Rare really did a good job with Jet Force Gemini, though I have to admit I had my ups and downs with this one. It's a bizarre game that holds up well on the Nintendo 64, especially considering Rare's other hit titles for the console. Jet Force Gemini is a third person shooter centered around a pair of intrepid children and their cyborg dog, who make up a small unit of the much larger interstellar human military. The children have been asked by the furry inhabitants of the planet Goldwood, known as the Tribals, to help save their planet from the evil insectile forces of King Mizar. The fight to save the Tribals takes place across a variety of worlds and spaceships, resulting in a final battle on board a meteor plummeting directly towards the Earth(as a nice touch the Earth is framed in the background of the final boss battle, a reminder of exactly what all is at stake).

Jet Force Gemini's control scheme is quite complicated, but once you get the hang of it it's really brilliant. The C buttons are used to strafe, jump, and crouch, but when the R button is held, it changes to operate like a D-pad while the analog stick aims. It works extremely well, but it takes time to get used to. The controls change a little during boss battles so that you don't have to hold the R button and can strafe back and forth freely.

The levels are also quite wide ranging, with a multitude of differing locales. But the game also offers a few side missions. This is one of the things I took issue with; the additions are things like racing missions and the "Floyd Missions." The racing missions make for an interesting distraction, but the Floyd Missions, in which you control a small flying robot, suffer from poor controls that force you to replay them over and over again. The levels require you to race through tight corridors in first person view, grabbing items and shooting various objects in extremely short periods of time. It wouldn't be so bad if they were optional, but at least one required object was only available by making it through one of these frustrating and asinine sections fast enough to receive a gold medal. I nearly threw my controller down in frustration over it. On the other hand the racing missions aren't so bad, but again they're purely optional.

Oh, one other issue I have is with the AI. For the most part it's very good, with enemies running up behind cover, popping in and out to shoot at you, chucking grenades to flush you out, etc. I found it quite good, what all with it being a Nintendo 64 game. Unfortunately later on I had to rescue the tribals, which the AI decided would be better to shoot than to let me have. One level in particular I was forced to play through again and again because the AI continuously decided it would rather murder the little guys than fight me.

Oh, that final boss fight? It's pretty epic too, not just with the view. It's tough, but it's fair and nowhere near impossible. More final bosses should be like that.

They kind of did this in both Mega Man X 6 and Mega Man X 7, but it was much, much more annoying in Mega Man X 6. Yet another reason why I liked MMX7 a bit more than its predecessor. MMX8 schools the both of them though

Hey, thanks. Truthfully I started this game about two months ago and didn't really care for it, and then after messing around with Castlevania 64 a bit, I decided I'd go back to it last week. I'm really glad I took the time to beat it, but it was a whole lot longer than I expected, which I suppose I should consider a bonus.

So could you ever get an upgrade that was lost if the robot was killed then?
