Re: What are you playing?
I tired Metal Slug Tactics. It doesn't feel like Metal Slug. The over the top nature of the game is really restrained in a tactical rpg. None of that arcade game flair is here. It's the blandest, most subdued Metal Slug game I have ever played. This isn't a series that belongs in a genre like this. Also, it feels really low budget, almost like a mobile game
Plus, I hate the roguelike crap, which just makes the game confusing, difficult, and inaccesible.
The user interface is also awful and all of the text in this game is tiny. Even playing the Switch version on a TV I was squinting all the time. They're probably going to have to patch that.
Mario & Luigi Brothership I have been playing for about two weeks since it leaked early. The game is great. The combat is absolutely superb, some people calling it the best in the series, and the game makes Luigi seem way more awesome than Mario as he is the guy who figures out how to solve every problem in this game. He even takes the lead in boss battles, always being the one who figures out how to take the boss down with Mario following his lead. "Luigi Logic" is a gameplay mechanic that basically makes Luigi the smarter one of the duo.
I'm definitely going to put the money down and purchase the game now that it's released officially.

...I've been working through Lies of P. I enjoyed my time w/Bloodborne, and still intend to finish it, but Lies of P is the best soulsbourne that I've played. The gameplay just fits me better. I plan getting started on Marvel Land this weekend, I'm hoping it's a good time since it's game I've wanted to check out for a long time now. I need to figure out which version of SMB2 to start as well.
Re: What are you playing?
After finishing up a few horror themed games I originally started in October, I've had an itch to play a RPG. I went with Final Fantasy III on the SNES, which I played about halfway through years ago, but actually never beat. I started a new save file, and am currently at the Ghost Train.
I'm also aiming to play a game on the Super Mario All-Stars cart for the current Together Retro thread.

Re: What are you playing?
It's that time of year where it seems there's a lot of games to choose from now.
I'm finding the Plucky Squire to be quite charming with an interesting twist early in the game.

I don't like the Horizon Zero Dawn series but seeing a version of it on the Switch has me intrigued. I had to try it out. So far I'm enjoying the humor.

Zelda Echoes of Wisdom is delightful and Gori looks intriguing

Oh, and I'm still playing Mario & Luigi Brothership

Re: What are you playing?
I'm playing FF VI again and currently a little over twenty hours in. I've finished up the MagiTek research facility mission and doing some exploring with the airship and grinding at the Veldt. Just need a purple Mag Roader to finally pop up and I can move on to the next section of the game.
Also, started a new campaign in GoldenEye 007 for N64 last week, and I'm close to the end of the game. Think I have five or six stages left to beat.
I'll be traveling for a few weeks starting next weekend and don't think I'll have enough time to finish either game. I'll have to finish them in mid-January. I'm going to bring a few GB and GBA titles to play during downtime while I'm traveling.

Re: What are you playing?
I played some of MMPR Rita's Rewind, I don't like it. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Mega Battle was a better game.
Re: What are you playing?
I respectfully disagree. Rita's Rewind is WAY better, but then again I've only played the first level. Mega Power Battles felt and looked more like a halfway-decent at best Flash game, whereas Rita's Rewind felt more like a labor of love.
The problem with many Power Rangers games is that they're often approached as being merchandise first and video games second. Even the best of the Power Rangers games felt like subpar entries in their respective genres. The Super NES Power Rangers games (particularly Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and The Movie tie-in) were at best decent beltscrollers that could easily get lapped by all but a small handful of similar games.
Rita's Rewind, however, seems to be more like the developers put this as not just a piece of merchandise but also as an excellent game that just so happens to be festooned with fanservice. Prior to this, one of my absolute favorite Power Rangers games was an OpenBOR fangame called Beats of Power. I'm not counting Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: It's Morphin Time, yet another OpenBOR fangame, since it's not out yet, either as a demo or as the full game.

Re: What are you playing?
You could morph in Mega Battle. You could use weapons like the blaster. You could do team attacks in co op. You could level up and upgrade your character. You could play as the second team of Rangers as DLC. The combat and hit detection was tighter and the difficulty was more balanced
Mega Battle is objectively better in every way. Rita's Revenge feels half assed and uninspired. Half of the game isn't even a beat 'em up

Not many people loving Rita's Rewind. It's a shame, I was hyped up for this game
