So how many other sub-genres to metal elitist ignore?

There's so much metal out there nowadays to explore and get into. Might not like a certain sub-genre, everyone has tastes. But metal is metal.

What does deathcore have to do with that chart, and what does any of it have to do with "elitism"?

Well, deathcore is a sub-genre of metal, and you just spouted some metal elitist BS about it not being metal.

The chart was to illustrate how wide and varied metal really is, and what a bunch of BS metal elitism is.

One guy thinks Black Metal is real metal, another thinks it's thrash, and another says it's 70s and 80s metal because that's "pure" metal. It's all freaking metal, and that's what makes metal so great.

Deathcore isn't even on that chart. I don't know of any metal "elitists" who deny any of the bands on that chart either. (Other than the obvious stuff, clearly garage rock and punk aren't metal... that and Alternative "Metal", which hell even that chart demonstrates it comes more from alt rock than anything else.)

Subgenre bickering is something else entirely, I was being kinda semi-tongue in cheek with my post anyway in case you ignored all the "1"s. Would you rather me have just said that deathcore breakdowns 'suck'?

Deathcore is basically a mashup of crappy post-Suffocation "brutal" bands with the Hatebreed/Earth Crisis brand of hardcore. Would you rather me just say it 'sucks'?

Yeah, I would rather that. I freaking hate metal elitism. We should all embrace metal, and be okay with the fact that we don't all have the exact same tastes. Arguing that this sub-genre is metal and this one isn't is freaking retarded and ruins a lot of online metal communities. Just saying it sucks is an honest opinion, rather than trying to tear down someone else's taste in metal.

Not a fan of deathcore, with the exception of a few bands like Through the Eyes of the Dead and The Red Chord. Most of it just feels like a lazy mismatch of death metal, metalcore, and (on the worst occasions) nu-metal. Additionally, deathcore bands always seem inclined to use squeaky clean production that I despise.

I'm not opposed to the genre in theory, and I do like some decade-old metalcore that's somewhat similar (Prayer for Cleansing, From Autumn to Ashes, Eyes Upon Separation, etc).

And I love breakdowns, when they're actually used effectively and not simply as "brutal" filler riffs. This is an example of a breakdown done right (at 1:47):

one of these things is not like the other.

fun fact: one of the first shows i ever booked in high school was Every Time I Die, From Autumn to Ashes and This Day Forward. maybe 40 people showed up. the drummer from FATA was a total prick and wore his headset mic around venue for the duration of the show.

also if you guys wanna listen to some awesome metalcore in that style check out Day of Suffering:
