I am very fortunate. I didn't want to have to escalate it to any sort of case-opening, and I didn't get any responses to the messages I left. I've never left a negative feedback, just a few neutrals, but that's it. I know what I got to do on my end to make things right, but to be fair, those 2 that did leave negative feedback ordered stuff at the beginning of December.Hobie-wan wrote:That sucks. I can see how there's a legitimate reason that they're not explaining because it is personal though. They did at least give you a refund without you having to ask.

Smile:
I'm such a dumbass.
I went to play my genesis and try out a couple of new games I picked up. Powered everything up, and no video from the 32x. The sound works because its hooked up to separate speakers, but no video.
What the hell?
I fiddled with it a bunch, changed the input on the tv, checked other systems which all worked fine. Nothing. Finally, I unhooked the 32x and pulled the video straight from the Genesis. Works perfectly.
Again, what the hell?
Only thing it could be at that point is the cable going bad, or maybe the 32x ribbon cables came loose. How, who knows, the system never moves, but I popped everything open and reseated the cables anyway. When I went to go test it out again, I suddenly realized: the ac adapter for the 32x was unplugged!
I remembered that I had unplugged the adapter to plug in my pc engine duo about a week ago, and never switched it back.
Plugged it in and it works fine. Imagine that.
Doi.
Frown:
Bought one of those apple cables from monoprice, the ones that are supposed to work with the pc engine as a controller extension. The pins are completely different, and it won't even fit.
I must have fucked up and grabbed the wrong cable.
At least it was cheap.

Smile of the Year: I found the best find I've ever found (let that sink in) in the back loading dock of a semi-new antique store. It's a card table, spring loaded from the 1920's, art deco. I didn't have time to take proper pictures, but here are a few quick samples that may leave you dizzy:

The chairs are unbelievably sturdy, and I'm not sure if I'll do anything more than give 'em a touch up. The construction is top notch. The leaf of the table lifts straight up, and *POP!* the slides pop right out.
And I know the "style" isn't appealing to every eye, but I immediately fell in love with it. The detail, the quality, the history... Would have paid $500 for the chairs alone.
I'll provide better pics after I get rid of my giddy fit.

Man, if you've already got your find of the year and your moment of stupidity for the year and we're only the 5th, you're going to have a boring ass rest of the year.Luke wrote:Smile of the Year: I found the best find I've ever found (let that sink in) in the back loading dock of a semi-new antique store.
Table looks pretty cool though.

Months of mediocrity will hopefully not follow.Hobie-wan wrote: Table looks pretty cool though.
As far as "moments of stupidity" go, I hope I'm done for the year. Not likely, but I can hope.
Thanks for the compliment on the table.

Just one week ago I said this:
Pft, from now on it's going to be my manual meat grinder and mortar and pestle only.
At least those things cannot break. I think...
And they have this certain old school charm electrical appliances don't have...
Just my luck, this one too stopped working on me. Same probem...elmagicochrisg wrote:Up until 3 years ago I still used the Moulinex my mother bought to make my baby food. Had to throw it away. Not because the motor stopped working, but because after 32 years the plastic around the blades was completely worn away and the motor had no more grip on the blades. Otherwise it was in perfect shape...
Two years ago I found one for €3 on a flea market just like the one I had. Still works like a charm... ^^
Try doing that with a modern food processor... lol
