Switch Discussion Thread
Re: NX Predictions Thread
Was interested in the Arcade Archives listed on the Switch gamestore but then I realized it was digital only probably and available on the PS4 already
. Plus each game cost $8 on the PSN store so yeah not that amazing a deal
. Plus like most of the stuff there it's release is TBD.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
wow. "Underwhelming" is right.
One game at launch (so really it'd be like a $350 investment on day one), and it's a game I'm only mildly interested in. And not even a pack-in demo?
Skyrim in portable form was a huge one for me. TBH I could stream it to my Shield and use a BT controller. It would be really interesting if Nvidia came out with similar "clip-on" controls for its Shield tabs though. And shit, if Bethesda were to put out an actual Android (or Shield proper) port of Skyrim... I'd be very happy to buy that game again.
Ugh... monthly fee for online? I'm really not a fan of that model. I mean, price matters. But not a fan of that model.
So yeah, ultimately this has not turned out to be what I was hoping for. I was hoping for a $200-$250ish Nintendo-branded tablet, with enough reasons to make me think I needed a Nintendo-branded tablet on top of the Windows and Android ones I already own. That didn't happen. At least not with the 'big reveal'.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
Hey didn't mention new shin megami tensin, xenoblade chronicles 2, dragon quest warriors 1 & 2, Dragon Quest 10 and 11. New, No More Heroes, a new square Enix rpg. For the Japanese game fan there is a ton. Not to mention the snippets of stuff shown. I feel like the tree house event will be more telling.noiseredux wrote:wow. "Underwhelming" is right.![]()

Lots of games were shown, but catered very much to a Japanese audience.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
Square already brings a lot of their stuff to PC and Android, so that's a moot point for me.
I'm not saying the Switch won't someday be appealing. But at launch? Not for me. Really happy with my Shield as my portable gaming device still.

I don't blame you. The launch lineup is not that good, especially if you own a Wii unoiseredux wrote:Square already brings a lot of their stuff to PC and Android, so that's a moot point for me.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
So I rewatched the last game trailer and what caught my eye was after Bomberman was PuyoxTetris. Yes it is an older game, but it was never released stateside. It is one of the best vs puzzle games ever made. The whole presentation did not blow me away, like the Gamecube or Wiis, but I woke up at 4 this morning, and saw Gamestop had preorders up. So I paid the extra $14 so it will arrive on launch weekend (if I am lucky I will get it on launch day, but packages always get delayed to my house).
My watch list for launch is:
Zelda
Bomberman R
Arms
For 2017:
Mario
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - bloody April.
Puyo x Tetris
Maybe - Redout
Watching more footage of Arms it really flows like a new age Virtual On. I can really dig it.
I do hope the rumors about Pay to play online providing monthly SNES and NES games with online multiplayer is true. I can dig that.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
I did mention that there were big Japanese series announced, but realistically, most of that is years away. None of it was given a release window, some of it might not even be coming here (I think Dragon Quest X and XI were followed by "in the Japan region"), some of it may not wind up being exclusive.BogusMeatFactory wrote: Hey didn't mention new shin megami tensin, xenoblade chronicles 2, dragon quest warriors 1 & 2, Dragon Quest 10 and 11. Realistically, there are what, four big Nintendo titles slated for this year, two of which are also on Wii U in some form. Given the chicken/egg kind of dynamic of selling consoles and getting games developed for it, it's...not ideal. Thus far, things don't actually look much different than the Wii U in that regard. The bigger potential is absorbing 3DS development over time.

Re: NX Predictions Thread
How long do you think it will be before we see "New Donk City" shirts
Re: NX Predictions Thread
I dunno, but there does seem to be a complete lack of donks in New Donk City. It's a city of lies.
