So, I am wandering around some ruins near northtown in the empire in Secret of Mana. My weapons are all about level 4 (of 8 ), my spells can reach level 4(of 8 ), and I have 4 out of 7 of them. I'm assuming this must be about the half way point now? If not, how much longer do I have? Still enjoying it, but if I still have half a game to go I can see me getting fed up.

Wow! Ultima Weapon was a total pushover; I got 1-hit kills on him using KotR an only had to chase him once before he died! I sure hope Sephiroth puts up a better fight!

Yeah chief, Ultima Weapon's not really a big deal. Ruby and Emerald both make for more interesting fights.

I didn't do many side quests when I played, I should go back and do them. Also, Do you have the W-item materia? Because there is an item duplication thing you can do with it. I had 99 phoenix downs and hi potions when I was training to beat Ruby Weapon.

I don't think I'll try and beat them, considering you pretty much have to be at level 99 and have every materia in the game mastered before you even consider fighting them. I will try and beat Ultima Weapon, though. Also, I have done essentially all of the side quests except for the Battle Arena, Ancient Forest [Which I plan to get to today before I beat Ultima Weapon], and Turtle's Paradise.

Here are my stats right now:
Cloud Lv. 67 w/KotR+Quadra Magic, Phoenix, etc.
Cid Lv.62 w/4x Hit, Bahamut ZERO, Long Range, etc.
Yuffie Lv.66 w/Conformer Weapon, a whole bunch of miscellaneous materia, etc.

Kotr paired with Quadra? That's some serious overkill lol. When I played I used bahamut zero with Quadra and that worked well. Those were around my levels when I beat the game, so you should be fine for the end.

Indeed, especially if you beat them the legit route like I once did (ie: no KoTR. The first time I played FFVIII I did NOT want to bother with chocobo mating, so I just said screw that and beat the weapons to win one among other things). Emerald was the toughest one for me, but I was pretty young so maybe I didn't know exactly what I was doing, lol. I know I did a trick to have someone cast Gravity 4 times in a row which I think did 9,999 damage each time, then I had the Fury status effect on Cloud so I could easily get Omnislash and did that like 3-4 times, finally after numerous tries I took him down. The fight with Ruby is real wacky, I think I beat him with Cloud alone due to some weird strategy working out in taking him on with one character. Think he did extra attacks/status effect junk if you have 3 or something, but it's been years so I'm not sure. But yeah, Ultima, and the final boss fights are pretty much Imp battles compared to these.

Well, that was the most underwhelming set of final bosses I have ever faced in a video game; I cast KotR once on each, and they died instantly. I don't think I even took more than 1000 total points of damage! I really feel like I'm cheating when I use that summon. Anyway, that was really fun; the game was certainly worth my time.

That's exactly why I said "KoTR = Game breaking".

But honestly, FFVII is probably one of the easiest games ever in general. Get 4x Attack on every character and the final boss fights are just as easy as summoning KoTR, or do Omnislash once or twice. There's a slew of game breaking Materia setups, like having a character setup to cast Phoenix when they die (ie they instantly revive themselves and anyone else), and just tons of other silly combo's like that.

Ah crap, there goes my challenge - I had enough store credit at the Gamestops to get a new copy of Donkey Kong Country Returns. I popped it in just to goof off and see what the fuss was before I got back to Tales of Symphonia.

...Big mistake.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

What? You still haven't beaten Symphonia? Get on it, man!
