They haven't accepted NES games as trade-in for years and years, why would you even try?

I assume you have never heard of the Battletoads joke.

No, I haven't. Enlighten me, please.

People would prank call Gamestop and ask to reserve Battletoads or ask when it is coming out. Some people would also try to trade in the NES version.

Just do a search of Battletoads and Gamestop for more info.

Admittedly I did this once along with some friends after the clerks were rude to a buddy's girlfriend.

Crap - is Contra any good? I passed on it tonight when I was there.

Shattered Soldier = traditional side-scrolling Contra. It's crazy hard, and isn't as good as the original NES games, but it holds it's own...

Neo Contra - top down Contra. Think Super C's 2nd stage, but for the entire game.. It's not a bad action game, but doesn't feel like a great Contra experience.. Only awesome thing is the Cover art drawn by Jim Lee (X-Men, WildC.A.T.S, Gen-13.)

It was fun in a nostalgic sort of way. Probably the best Contra in years. Pattern memorization is key... and there isn't much after that. The game is so linear and pattern based that many sections can only be beaten one way. Many would argue the same for Contra Hard Corps, but at least that game still allowed for a little wiggle room.

Shattered Soldier also requires far too many buttons for a run n' gun (IMO). It is a nightmare to play on an arcade stick.

It is a blue disc game so make sure your PS2 can still play them.

I've had some pretty good Battletoads calls myself back in the day. The preorder pranks are funny but my favorite ones were asking if they had any copies in stock. The clerks would actually get pretty pissed off.

So for those who purchased DXHR from Gamestop they're offering a promotion where you bring the receipt back to the store and they'll give you a 2 for 1 used coupon and a $50 game card.
