I believe I have the same model and still haven't bought a hard drive.

All I play on it is shmups and Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.

Do you feel like you are missing anything? (If not, I will probably stop my frenzied search for one.)

See my edited post above.

I probably don't play it enough to notice anything.... yet.

Anyone have recommendation on best cables to use to hook up a "HD graphics" genesis? I just bought one and only have Rf adaptor.

Cool. That's the direction I will be taking my collection; so, I don't think that one will be immediately necessary.

SCART. Although if you don't live in Euroland, then you'll need an RGB SCART to Component transcoder.

So I noticed on the Pinbot (NES) title screen that it had "Patent Pending" on the bottom and I wondered what for.

Turns out it was for Rare's scrolling technology for Pinbot & High Speed on the NES that enables you to see the flippers at all times.

Do you have a way to play Windows PC games? There are a lot of good fighters on Steam, and a few on GOG. I don't think any work for Mac though.
I can set up some Wine configs but not really into the idea of devoting much of my space to playing a few games on Windows. Still open to suggestions. I'm sure I can get a lot of them running. Especially older ones.

I'm just not sure what fighters to try because so far, every time I've tried Street Fighter I haven't enjoyed it particularly much. However I love both Injustice and the reboot of Mortal Kombat. King of Fighters seems like something I might be able to get into as well.

Guilty Gear and Blaz Blue seem really cool but also really complicated. I don't know that I'd enjoy something like that all that much. I guess it couldn't hurt to give them a try.
Older. Not wiser.

I recently bought a 250 GB Model E myself (love it so far). I can tell you that when I install a game to the hard drive it loads tremendously faster than it does off disc. So I now install every game if intend to play it any length of time. It's a night and day difference in loading, no joke. Also the console runs a bit cooler when it loads games off hard drive, considering lack of additional heat normally generated by various disc drive motors. And we all know keeping your 360 cooler is a good idea.
