Re: Pokémon Go (Generation 2 out *NOW!*)

Teddiursa are nearly common around here, which is great because one of my favorite catches in the old Crystal game was staying up till around 4am to get a Teddiursa (the real time clock was a great thing to have!) and then I got a nice Ursaring which I threw a whole bunch of TMs on.

But I did find an Octillery at one of the parks I go to after getting my Espeon into a gym.

Speaking of which, gym battles are much more different not only with the move changes, but they also changed the tap speed on the fast moves to be much slower. You won't win battles by mindlessly tapping anymore, you'll probably die quicker! Get to dodging!

Gen 2 feels like a whole new game. Just like back in July. I'm liking the wide range of things I'm finding, it's not just all Pidgey, Rattata, Venonat (and Sentret) anymore.

When Gen 3 comes out, I won't know any of them, I haven't played the real game past Gen 2!

My office still only has pidgeys and paras... But I did get a Ledyba and a Ledian when grocery shopping yesterday. And a Totodile.

With all the generations there are now and it still grows out over time aren't there like 800 of them?

Gen 1 had 151, and Crystal/Silver/Gold added +100 in Gen2. That puts us around 30% of the pokemon roughly speaking. The game went live last July if I recall right and now 7mo later we got introduced to 100 more upping the bar to roughly 250 (though they said they added 80+?)

If they were to stagger it out say every 6months where you have another generation dropped and use those drops to do more significant as needed changes and updates to the game it could keep a raging Pokemon interest boner for years to come. There's like 8 generations of them and if you dropped 2 a year, and figure there are more yet to come as the franchise lives on they've got it made.

Gen 3 adds another 135.
Gen 4 adds another 107.
Gen 5 adds another 156.
Gen 6 adds another 72.
Gen 7 adds another 81.

There are 802 pokémon in total.

That's also ignoring the mega forms and alternate forms of Pokémon in later generations which would easily add another 100 or so more.

This could run for basically as long as it still makes money, there's plenty of Pokémon they can keep adding.

Today I discovered that Fighting types can finally do serious damage to those Normal gym defenders!

My 2122 Heracross took on Snorlax at 2200 and 2400 with no problems to get the last spot in a level 9 gym. It has Counter & Close Combat, which does a LOT of damage! I usually used Flareons with Fire Blast (but they're tough to use when Snorlax has Earthquake - Ground beats Fire) and the damage from Close Combat is the same, if not a little bit more. That is a great thing for the gym game now. The new Fighting moves and the improvements to their power means we won't have to deal with moves like Submission that don't do nearly as much damage to Normal types. I also flipped an Instinct gym that had just a Porygon-2 with my Heracross, no problem. Excellent damage! The only thing you have to watch for is Zen Headbutt, which is super effective (Psychic) againt Fighting types, but a few dodges put a stop to that. I was able to get 2 Counter attacks, then dodge ZH successfully.

Great now I might actually care about fighting types. I just wish they showed up in this area as they do maybe once every couple of months. >:\

I have a really machamp and machop, that's it. I've had like maybe 4 mankeys and they've all been C- grade turds at best so I erased them for the candy.

Alien: Pretty much how I felt about it alright. Pokemon Go is safe to live on for years, 5 years easily if not more depending how they stagger out the pokemon releases vs running people off out of being bored with it. And given Nintendo/GameFreak still make new ones up, more to the fire years down the road.

Another couple of new Pokémon today, which made me hit 30 of the new pokémon obtained.

Started the day by obtaining a Dragon Scale from my 7 day pokéstop bonus, which allowed me to get Kingdra.

Followed that up by catching a Skarmory this morning. I caught another one on the way home too.

Lastly, I found a Hoppip on my journey home too.

Spawn at work updated, Teddiursa, Sentet, and spiders everywhere. All the gyms have new blue folk in them (including cp 2k Ursaring). Us red folk cant catch a break.

Hit level 23.

Found an amazing hoppip today, kind of surprised/annoyed it's my first 'amazing' level gen2 so far which makes me question if I have bad luck or if they're really cheapening things up on finding pokemon that don't suck. Also found a new one, Marill (been hoping to get one) yet it was an awful cp10 one, couldn't get worse but it's unlocked.

I got my 3rd Ditto today, but it was a catch with my Go Plus device, so I'm guessing it was a Sentret. Got another Wooper and Cyndaquil today, used Pinap Berries on them for more candy.

I also have a TON of Exeggcute candy from the event last week, so I got my 8th Exeggutor, with a new move called Bullet Seed & Psychic. Great CP at 2400 too. Another gym entry!
