That's no simple task, so congratulations. Did you clear all the cups? I was really taken aback by the much harder difficulty as compared to the SNES original.
Super Adventure Island was a great update too!
Cheers, I think. I did. The colour went out my face when I discovered you'd to clear to first three cups on expert to get access to the last one; took some doing. I was struggling for a while, but the game lightens up a little if you ignore the shoulder-button drifts and just tap 'A' on the corners instead. I thought it was an ingenious exploit, but if you look at the tutorial (the championship replay) on the cart, the game actually recommends it.
I always thought it was odd that you'd get no credits for pretty much the whole game, but beating ANY cup on Master will let you see them.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, I've been getting into F-Zero recently too, having beaten 3 of the games in the last 6 months, and the other two within the last two years. Maximum Velocity is great, but I'd rate it as the worst of the 5 I've played (all of them except the Japan-only F-Zero Climax), so it only gets better from here.

Is it the steep price that's keeping you away from Climax, or have you heard bad things about it?

Good to know. I knew there was something you had to do to stay in at a good position, and the turns are where you waste all that speed/position/etc. Easing off the shoulder buttons seems like a good start.

I didn't know if it had a steep price or not actually. I just have so many already localised games I want to buy that I kinda neglect buying imports

They're not too bad, as long as you know where you're ending up at all times. Avoid the water and make sure you're going directly towards the UFOs instead of circling around them (a common problem due to the early use of 3D). Also, remember the blue UFO with extra time comes out when you reach under (20?) seconds. I've gotten them all on the PC port, back when it was able to run. I'm sourcing a copy of Sonic Gems Collection, so hopefully I'll be able to play this game again real soon.

I've done it a lot in the past, used to run through this game all the time heh. I think I unlocked everything on the CD version back when I had that. I just ran through the HD port on PSN which was pretty awesome, some neat extras (play as Tails, Sonic 2 spin style if you want, Japanese and US soundtracks). Good times. I just loved the devs use of multiple layers of backgrounds, it made the levels looks so vast and awesome.

Yup. It was Wrestling night last night. Tecmo is my favorite of the three games by miles, but I went to sleep hearing the theme to Prow Wrestling, and woke up hearing the same theme. Can not get that music out of my brain.

Has to be said: Seriously, to beat 3 tough wrestling games on the NES, including TTW. Isn't there 30 something rounds on that one?
