Went home to pick up my cat this weekend - decided to keep things simple and stick with some portable gaming action. Kirby's Dream Land was waiting for me, courtesy of our good man Sevin.

Kirby Dream Land manages to create the foundation for one of the best platformer series of all time - but despite it's many, MANY sequels the original remains relevant and a whole heck of a lot of fun. I'm astonished at how much personality and charm was packed into this series right from the initial game. Truly a classic.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Thoughts on the Game(s)

Samorost
A fun little adventure game from the makers of Machinarium, I got the sequel in the Humble Bundle and have not played it, now that I have finished the first one I will give it a go. Very short in length but very nice art direction and beautiful soundtrack. Best of all its completely free, so you have no reason not to play it

Samorost 2
So I played this through in one sitting, it is much longer than the first, but still a very short game, it asks $5 on steam for a copy, and while a great game, its length and lack of replay value make its $5 price tag too high. I got this with the humble bundle so its price didn't matter.

Overall it bettered the first game in every way and if you enjoyed Machinarium you will love really enjoy Samorost 2, similar graphics, story and story telling, the big different is you interact with your environment as apposed to directly controlling the character themselves.

I am looking forward to Samorost 3 which is a full length game. They are an amazing studio.

1. 3/26 - Crash Bandicoot: Warped! (PS1)
2. 3/26 - Shatter (PS3)
3. 3/27 - Megaman X (SNES)
4. 3/31 - Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land (GBA)
5. 4/05 - Klonoa (Wii)
6. 4/07 - Donkey Kong Returns (Wii)
7. 4/19 - Street Fighter II (SNES)
8. 4/22 - Enslaved :Journey to the West (360)
9. 4/24 - Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers (NES)
10. 5/21 - Epic Mickey (Wii)
11. 5/30 - Genji: Dawn of the Samurai

I picked up Genji after reading JT's thoughts on the game in this thread. I liked the game, it's a fun hack n slash action game. I have a soft spot for any action game that has collectible weapons and armor, and a leveling system. I had a great time hunting down and buying the latest gear for the two playable characters. The bullet time counter attack timing system was a lot of fun and addicting for me, though it might not appeal to everyone. I appreciated that the cutscenes were well done but not overly long for an action game. They tell you just what you need to know without dragging on. The game lasted me about 8 hours which is just right for an action game like this. All and all a fun game and a great value at the $2 (plus shipping) I paid for it on half.com. :D

Really late in going it, but I finally beat first(I believe) game of 2011, I've been really busy.

Sonic Colors.

Any sonic fans probably already have this title, if they don't they certainly should buy it, and as a forewarning I strongly recommend using a Gamecube controller, the controls are much, much better than on the Wiimote.
Current Consoles: SNES, GBC, Game Cube, Nintendo DSL, Wii, N64, PS2
Past Consoles: PS1, X-BOX, GBA

FAV Franchises/Games: Sonic The Hedgehog, Lock's Quest, Legend of Zelda, Megaman Battle Network, Mysims, Plok(SNES), Kirby, Ristar, Sly Cooper, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Smash Bros, Okami, Tekken, Super Mario, Wario Land, Golden Sun, Streets of Rage and Elite Beat Agents.

I agree I was using the Classic Controller Pro and its a big step up, this game becomes bloody hard later on with some REALLY precise platforming.

I just beat Blaster Master again. I'll admit, I reverted to save states off and on (not abusively like I used too!) but damn, makes me wonder how I was able to legitimately get up to stage 8 back when I was a kid. I honestly don't know if I've ever beaten this game outside of emulation. Stage 8 is an absolute nightmare and still one of the scariest levels I've ever seen visually (topped off with that music), haha. Luckily the final bosses aren't that bad but yeah, also had tons of trouble on the stage 7 boss (second frog).

A beast of a game and still one of my favorites.
