My best friend sounds a lot like you, nickname for everyone. I like nicknames too, but not quite on the same level. His tend to evolve too. Example: Someone named Michael has a nickname of Ultra. Michael -> Mike -> Mick -> Michelob -> Michelob Ultra -> Ultra. Fun stuff! Incidently this has an off-shoot from Mick where he was called "Ignorant Slut" for awhile, please tell me you get this reference.Luke wrote:He prefers "Charles", but yeah. He also responds to "Bucks", "Buckeye", and "Gruden".Stark wrote:Is "Two Buck" for someone named Chuck?
I get called "Cool hand", "Leukoplakia", "Gonzo", "Lukie Dookie", "Lukie Spadookie", "Luke-a-licious", "LL", "Ortay", "Luscious", "Lucifer", "Spin" (not for a long time though), "Skywalker", "Lefty", and "Keys".
I'm forgetting a few, I am sure.
For some odd reason it just struck me that I rarely call my friends by their given name, and vice versa. I'm surprised I don't know a Pony Boy.

Gah!
Okay. So, believe it or not, I had to go to the doctor for this. He's not even sure it is a damn cold sore because now I have some kind of contact dermatitis on my neck and ears and some itchy blisters on my eyelids (Which is what caused me to go to the doctor. Cold sores I can deal with, but you don't f*#& around when it comes to your eyesight.)
I don't know what I could have come in contact with to cause it, but he gave me a prescription for prednisone and another one to help with the itching (God bless that man). If it's not cleared up by Tuesday I've got to go back.
So, I'm exhausted and my ears itch >_< I wasn't able to get any sleep last night and then had to get up early for the doctor's appointment.
I hope this stuff kicks in soon...

I thought his name was Mick, not Jane.Stark wrote: please tell me you get this reference.
Also noticed I even give youse guys nicknames. I called Inazuma "Izzy", call dsheim "dish", called elmagicochris "no gov guy"...
How does the prednisone affect you? My dog is taking that, and her English is awful.Michi wrote: I don't know what I could have come in contact with to cause it, but he gave me a prescription for prednisone and another one to help with the itching (God bless that man).
Were you tested for allergies? Knock on wood you won't have to, but if you do see your doctor again, ask if your diet could cause any inflammation.
And don't kiss anyone. Eww.

Yeesh that sucks. Hope the meds clear things up quickly. I think the corners of my eyes are itching now a little in empathy.Michi wrote:So, I'm exhausted and my ears itch >_< I wasn't able to get any sleep last night and then had to get up early for the doctor's appointment.
On nicknames, there was a weird guy at work a few years ago that kept calling me Scotty Too Hotty. I was a bit worried until I found out that was a wrestler.

Yes, which was a direct take from Chevy Chase calling Jane Curtain an "Ignorant Slut" from SNL's earlier days. I was joking about a joke that was joked about.Stark wrote: So you haven't seen the SNL skit with Mike Myers as Mick Jagger and Mick Jagger as Keith Richards? So good.

Thanks. At this point I'll just be happy if the itching stops.Hobie-wan wrote:Yeesh that sucks. Hope the meds clear things up quickly. I think the corners of my eyes are itching now a little in empathy.
WebMD says it's "used to treat conditions such as arthritis, blood disorders, breathing problems, severe allergies, skin diseases, cancer, eye problems, and immune system disorders."Luke wrote:How does the prednisone affect you? My dog is taking that, and her English is awful.
I'm guessing this falls under skin diseases or allergies? Mom told me he's given me prednisone before when I was younger and got into some poision ivy that began to slowly creep it's way up my face. Or, how she likes to put it, "Whey you got the creeping crud."
She said I took it for about 2 days and it cleared right up. I can only hope something similar happens now.
Is Ripley really taking it for her skin cancer?
I haven't eaten anything lately that I haven't eaten before, except mangos (shocking, I know, but I've never actually eaten a fresh mango before this summer.) I can't imagine that would be the cause, and if it was than that'd be a real bummer. Those mangos were damned good.Luke wrote:Were you tested for allergies? I guess I could have developed an allergy to something, but from the way my neck and ears look, I'm guessing I got something on or around my shirt collar. So when I went to take it off whatever it was rubbed against my skin and ears and *BAM!* Itchy neck and ears from hell.
That's been a running joke with my mom for the last couple of days.Luke wrote:And don't kiss anyone. Eww.
"Good night."
"Good night, mom." *smoochy face*

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
FWIW, a friend of mine just mentioned last Friday that he was apparently allergic to mangos. So apparently it is a thing.Michi wrote: I haven't eaten anything lately that I haven't eaten before, except mangos (shocking, I know, but I've never actually eaten a fresh mango before this summer.)
