~_~ So I had quite a few colonels, and they all just got wiped out in Xcom Enemy Unknown.

Not sure if I can win with just a colonel and everyone else rookies. It's normal, but...shiiiiiit. :P

Finally. Decided today was the day, so I ended up playing the Command Deck again, and again, and again, and again, and again...

I'm months removed from playing the game,so not everything clicked, but I'll play the last "level" again tonight for that reason. The other reason being that I beat it using RCA cables and on a CRT.

I'm really glad you finally finished. But I do wish you didn't have that hiatus in there:

That's a good analogy.

I'm putting it off so I have time to enjoy it.

my fear is the longer you put it off, the less you will appreciate it. I plowed through it in a few days, and was just so wrapped up in the story. But if you take such a long break that you're kind of forgetting your emotional attachment, then the ending might not hit you as hard.

1/12: Kirby's Adventure (NES)
1/20: Injustice: Gods Among US (WiiU)
1/25: Super Mario 3D World (WiiU)
1/29: Metroid Fusion (GBA)
1/30: Metroid II: The Return of Samus (GB)
2/8: Metroid Zero Mission (GBA)
2/23: Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (WiiU)
3/9: Megaman Zero (DS)
3/14: Megaman Battle Network (GBA)
3/19: Star Fox 64 3D (3DS)

I finally gave Star Fox 64 the time and attention it deserves and I'm left with a lot of questions like "why did I wait so long?" and "how could this game be this special and I just now noticed?"

In short, I'm very impressed with Star Fox 64. Things that endear a game to me such as consistent gameplay, a logical difficulty curve, and a setting full of interesting characters and detail were all handled excellently.

Additionally, the story of the game is imparted in that confident, non-overbearing manner that is so rare in games. I loved Star Fox 64's pacing - how important details were doled out a bit at a time so I never felt like the game was clubbing me over the head with ridiculous amounts of exposition. It's similar to the praise I lavished on Retro for their story telling method in Metroid Prime - a method where player's are allowed to decide for themselves how much narrative they want to read. It gives a game great pacing and also gives me a reason to drop back in and find something new on subsequent play throughs.

So far I have finished two paths through the game and I am looking forward to exploring more of it in the coming weeks. I think this is a game that will be my go-to when I get burnt out on other titles for the foreseeable future.

I beat Bionic Commando 2009 (PC) last night and have a lot on my mind in regards to it. To keep this post from being a long ass rant, I'll just write a quick rundown:

The Good:
The Gameplay was pretty good. It was fun using the arm in various ways and the gunplay was adequate. Rad has a nice set of moves at his disposal for eliminating baddies.

Much of the game feels very exciting, and it's not just the boss fights and grandiose segments. The large (though limited) levels, the music, and near constant swinging make an otherwise dull game stimulating.

The Bad:
The story is absolute shit as it's a poor, pathetic attempt at giving a lighthearted franchise a grim and gritty reboot. Sure Bionic Commando wasn't jolly like Mario, but it wasn't about some brooding asshole who keeps swearing at his boss. To make it worse, Super Joe is the main villain.

The port isn't the best. There's no graphical options aside from resolution and the controls don't fall in line with how a typical PC third person shooter plays. Could've been worse.

While the move-set is a good size, the combat felt a bit repetitious towards the end. Also, the available arsenal feels inadequate and only being able to equip three at a time sucks.

Overall this game is a mixed bag with good gameplay, but a shit plot and presentation.

Thief

Well i'm not of a stealth fan but i love this game. I have never being so ingage with the simple use of the sound in a game and the lights. There so many time where i enter a new room and hear the footsteps of a guard coming and desperatly look for a dark corner to hide.

Crysis

Well this is a game that i hate it at first but it grow on me over time. I wans't a fan of how linear the game has become but at lest you still have option of facing a situation stealthy or violently. Sadly the suit now only has two options, either maximum armor or cloathing (no more maximum strenght and maximum speed) and now there's a few upgrades or perks that you can add to yourself witch boosts some aspecs of the suit and fit the way you prefer to play the game... you can have 3 diferent set ups but i only used one the entire game so it is not change it a lot and the game is short... like 6 hours. But i think this game benefits from being short since to be honest there isn't much variety in combat anymore so by being short it keeps it enjoyable.

So i been playing a lot pf ps3 games latetly...

SF2, level 7, using Ryu, only lost one round (chun-li), never lost a fight.

If I couldn't sucker bosses into a corner, no way I could beat this game without cheating.

Planned on playing some NES today, but most of my snes "stuff" was already downstairs. Beautiful day for outdoor gaming over here.

1. Metal Gear - NES (February 27)
2. Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault (March 4)
3. Thunderbirds - NES (March 9)
4. *NEW* Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 (March 22)
5. *NEW* Army Men: Sarge's War (March 22)

A special for today, I beat 2 games on the same day. I've been playing them concurrently over the past few months and it was time for them to be finished.

The final mission of Ghost Recon 2 was really brutal. It took me around 4 hours just to do. I'm all for the end of games being tough, but having to do the entire stage again and again only taking a few hits is not cool. Still, it was overall a better game than the original. I liked the ties it had to Splinter Cell Chaos Theory in terms of the story (the North Korean angle).

Army Men was a series I was never introduced to until here. Pretty good for what it was worth. Tons of weapons, the "big people" environments and lots of hidden stuff to locate was nice. It really played up the toy angle well too. After all was finished however, my disc never loaded the final FMV sequence. It was totally scratch free too. I don't quite understand that. It's a shame, because I wanted to see my medals for completion, I should have received them all for all primary and secondary missions complete. I watched it on YouTube instead  I'll need to try it in my second GC.
