Oh, I thought you had said you can't bomb or it disqualifies the tech bonus? Or did you mean you can't bomb because it might kill them? I've been just dodging the whole round and waiting for the open up - half the time I die moving in.

Anyways - smallest of improvements:

Oh, you can bomb and still tech, I must have said something wrong. If the bomb kills them though, then of course you can't tech them. I just don't shoot them until I know the tech is coming, bomb, get all cozy up front, and tech.

Bombing too early sucks though, because then you are most likely in a terrible spot for the spread that comes with his core opening.

thanks for the link Mike. Apparently Sonia is considered one of the worst characters in the game? (Low tier?) So yeah. That's who I've been using. Time to switch it up. I had tried them all, and she seemed to work well for me. But if Quaid will get me a higher score, then....

Well, Sonia is an interesting case. One of the great western players, Psikyo_Ball, uses Sonia, and there's a damn good play by superplayer ACR out there somewhere. Her mounted charge attack totally rocks.

I would say that in Dragon Blaze if you have trouble surviving you shouldn't bother optimizing score. Any of the characters are a good choice, but if you're using Quaid that won't give you much of an edge over Sonia until you learn gemhead locations and such.

Ignore that champion score; I got my 1.5m score on another version of MAME.

Rob is really fun to play as. Techs and 1-6 are much harder as him (I tried to use my Quaid routes which was a terrible idea) but he fucking OWNS bosses.

Surprisingly there isn't that much of a difference in scoring potential, since I got 156m on the first stage with Rob, 161m with Sonia, and 175m with Quaid.

Well, this is a hi-score thread (while also enjoying the process of learning a new game).

The many of us are not in that uber elite level of shmuppers - mostly casual, though a few of us are getting more and more into it.

Until we are able (if ever) to improve enough, that's when we'll be posting our scores in the shmups forums, for now, this is our own private Idaho

With that said, looks like RNG is in the lead - nice score btw, oh, and damn you.

Oh dear, sorry if I came off as condescending. I meant to say that in Psikyo, as you become more proficient at basic survival you'll see your scores improve. So as you get more comfortable you can be more aggressive with dragonshot.
I practiced just this game for about an hour per day for 3 months so it's not like this came out of nowhere.
And please don't put my score in the rankings.
