FF7...
Alright so I think I'm around LVL12 right now. We made it through the slums, fought the that took off in a helicopter w/ kidnapped Aeris, and swung our way out of there before the ceiling came crumbling down.
I want to point out something I really dislike about this game. The whole pre-rendered thing, it's all so busy. Often times just walking around a town or area makes me feel like I'm staring at one of those seek-and-find puzzles or something. I often have a tough time where I'll be on a single screen for a while like "um, where can I go?" and then a few minutes later realize "oh! That thing is something I can walk on?" or "THAT's a door?!? Well I'll be damned."

...did you read my explanation? It's not that I don't like the look. It's that it functionally gets in my way of playing the game.Xeogred wrote:noiseredux wrote:I want to point out something I really dislike about this game. The whole pre-rendered thing

Yea. I think pre-rendered looked great for its' time. But I certainly agree with it being more difficult to find your way around than full 2D or full 3D. A lot more invisible barriers.
Currently playing Atelier Totori Plus on Vita. Enjoying it more than the first time I played it on PS3. Trying to be better with time this time around. We'll see how it goes!

Noise, maybe a dumb question, but have you turned on the little indicator arrows? They help with the "exit or scenery" problem.

Push select, and you'll see little red arrows pop up over the exits in an area. Quite helpful.
I don't think they show up over things you can interact with in general (as I recall), so its not perfect, but still.

I'm not a fan of the pre-rendered stuff either.noiseredux wrote:FF7...

Not to mention that the contrast between your characters and the environment looks quite jarring.

Also, the prerendered backgrounds get less busy once you get out of Midgar.

Rather that than PDS style full 3D, where the whole game looks like ass rather than just your character. They noticeably improved the character models in FF VIII.BoneSnapDeez wrote: Not to mention that the contrast between your characters and the environment looks quite jarring.
