I know lots of people think Gregg Araki is the best underground filmmaker ever, but I thought Doom Generation was terrible enough that it probably deserves a -1. I had rented it, so I was a bit more reluctant to give up on it. After about 20 minutes I started fast forwarding through hoping to find some interesting bits with less insipid dialog. That didn't happen. I finally just gave up on it because it was so terrible.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I've yet to see a movie that deserves a 0 on a numbered scale. Ken Park.
Stupid, stupid movie. All the director wanted to do was shoot some kiddie-looking porn. It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Manos: The Hands of Fate has more plot to it.

Gaah. I try to present a point saying everything has something for somebody, and all I get is people trying to prove me wrong. (I know I didn't say it explicitly, but I tried to hint at it.)

Maybe that's what you were thinking in your head, but that's not what came across in your post.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Gaah. Saw the dark knight rises. Not too bad. I hope they make movies off the arkham games. That would be quite nice.

Don't take my rating too seriously there (I mean my lack of a real post there sums it up, lol), but yeah the new Total Recall... just by far one of the most boring movies I've seen in a theater in quite awhile. Not Aeon Flux bad, but yeah myself and the whole group I was with had trouble staying awake. Kind of wish I could get that time and money back.
Best part was when my friend shouted "FINALLY!" when Kate Beckinsale died. I guess the director is her husband, so no wonder she just KEPT COMING BACK UGGGGGGGH

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Tuned into the syfy monster movie day.
Cyclops wtf/10: Only saw the last five minuets of this but it was so weird. Eric Roberts as a Roman emperor getting killed by a Cyclops monster. Also some kind of rebellion like in Gladiator. No idea what was going on and at the same time kinda sad i had missed the preceding.
Ogre 6/10. This wasnt too bad, but was too long. The titular monster looked a like a slower fatter version of El Gigante from RE4. Almost no likeable characters though. Plot about a town out of time that made a deal with an evil wizard to survive a plague was interesting though. Ghost Town with Billy Drago did this much better though.
Snow Beast 3/10: Wow they screwed this one up pretty bad. The yetti moster looked pretty bad. Props for having a guy in a suit and not going full cg, but at least make the zipper not so obvious guys. The characters just didn't seem to react normally to anything and were unlikeable for it. The survivors laugh over the news coverage of their ordeal a year or two later, but hey didn't all your friends die? Shouldn't you be kinda pissed that no one believes you? Well i guess you didn't get charged with their murders so that's something.

100% agree with you on that. I watched the whole thing sans forwarding and i will never get that time of my life back.Hobie-wan wrote:I know lots of people think Gregg Araki is the best underground filmmaker ever, but I thought Doom Generation was terrible enough that it probably deserves a -1. I share a similar opinion with the movie Kids. Its probably better overall than Doom Generation, but I got about the same reaction to it.
