GoG still exists on the PC side of things...
As has been pointed out here and elsewhere, the Kinect is an issue. For starters, there is not even close to enough room for me to have one. They assume you have your console in the living room, and also assume you have the room in the living room for that. And if your living room isn't square, you're fucked.
Plus, the whole idea of a console that's always online to an extent and a connected camera scares me. I mean, my computer has a webcam, but then again, I can close my laptop...

Re: Xbox One
I don't think the steam comparison's are entirely accurate for a really important reason. Steam is still a growing platform and Valve's comments on the subjects people are comparing to Xbox One have been radically different stances than what Xbox One is doing, and classically the growth of these Microsoft services and devices have not been towards a more open nature.
The comparisons can still be made until Steam does otherwise ... but even other services on PC like Origin and GOG do things differently. Not to mention the retail games that require no account tying at all.
In my experience, there's been three very detrimental platforms on PC for video games, and they've been SecuROM, UPlay, and Games for Windows Live ... and one of those systems is being replicated on a console and turned to 11.

I'm XBOX Done I got such a warm fuzzy feeling buying my first PS3 games yesterday something I haven't had buying games in a LONG, LONG time. I saw this dude trading in a 360 game he just beat and I told him, Enjoy it while you still can.
He had no idea what I was talking about.

Re: Xbox One
Does anybody remember when all you had to do in order to play a game on your console was put the game in and power on? Ive been gaming since the Atari 2600 days and it seems that consoles starting with this gen are getting "too big for their britches."
I dont need a console to change the channel on my TV. Thats what my cable box is for. I don't need a console equipped with motion sensing technology and a bunch of gimmicks to help me get immersed. Give me a controller, and a game with a good story/ gameplay and that is all the immersion I need. Finally I definitely dont need a console to tell me what I can do with the games that I bought with my own money.
Call me old fashioned but I just want a console to play games and they can keep thier motion sensing, TV playing, DRM dealing bs. Im probably going to take a wait and see approach to this console cycle which is rare for me. Its going to be an intersting launceh for sure.

Wow.
Almost 85 pages of people complaining about a console they've never played. Or seen in person for that fact.
Reminds me of Steven Colbert's review of MAN OF STEEL:
"Let me tell you what I don't like about this movie that I haven't seen".
Can someone please shed some light on the positives of the xbone?
Will it let me get rid of my butthole of a cable provider (seriously, f--k you suddenlink)? On a groggy Sunday morning can I walk into my living room and simply say "xbox on, youtube ren and stimpy full episodes" and watch a cartoon without lifting a finger? Will I be able to beat NHL 2015 and say "post to facebook" and show the Blackhawks lifting the Cup? Can my Avatar actually be me, and not a cartoon me? Can I ask "xbox, ask if Paul C. wants to play SF2" and immediately "kinect" with a friend thousands of miles away?
There's a lot of stuff that I've heard about the xbone that I don't like, but jeez guys, don't forget that there might be some really ill s#it that the console can do.

1. STFU
2. We're not going to play something that takes away our rights. So we're going to complain we'll take it all the way to the top of microsoft if we have to http://consumerist.com/2007/06/05/contact-microsoft-ceo-steve-ballmer/

1) Why should the sound of reason be kept quiet?
2) Your "rights"? Seriously? Your rights? How's the weather on Mars?
3) "To the TOP of Microsoft"? Are you mentally disabled? You think they give a shit whether you care or not?
This is the dumbest response to an honest question I've received in years. Years.
Hate to break it to you, but Microsoft isn't about making YOU happy; they're in it for the money, and they'll make plenty off the xbone.
Sometimes the customer is just an asshole.

It's stupid for "Shut the F--k up".
Some people are only able to express themselves in text talk. It's easier and doesn't require thought.
