It seems to be an issue with the latest version. It's happened to me too, fortunately I was able to get in and switch my buddy. They fix the freeze on startup, now you can't get to the profile.

This event has been insane in the number of balls I've went through. Nearly 150, and all the dust I've used, about 150K in powering up gym worthy Pokémon. I had 18 this weekend, but now I'm down to 16, but I'm in all 5 gyms along Valor Road now!

Finally, new information from Niantic about upcoming features. We would have had the player vs. player and trading already, but they focused on the initial bugs with the connections and app (despite a new bug every version) before doing anything with that.

I'm kind of fed up waiting on the trading and them being serious about Gen2 pokemon. The game is getting stale when the only time something different pops up is during an event which shouldn't be how something like this should work. I haven't seen one charmander since that starter thing 2 months ago for example. I've been at it since day one, still no porygon(finally gym saw one a week ago), no mr mime, no jynx, no electabuzz, and the list goes on.

That article is incredibly non-specific. This tells us nothing new. It's just another confirmation that pvp and trading is coming... eventually. No due date given. Apparently Niantic will release these features right after they fix every single bug... you know, when elephants fly and when there is lasting peace in the middle east.

I'm not holding my breath.

This is why Pokemon Go is no longer on my phone and I seem to have a lot less distraction when out walking around.

I refuse to erase it, too much time into it and I like it, but I no longer love it.

I'm just actively wanting to get the minimum out of the way so I have the daily check in and maybe rope a few extras and extra balls now and again so I'm not out. I commit to nothing since they commit to not honoring their promises if they're chasing after bugs and pink elephants.

About damn time! Sheesh. There is a letter and a link that goes with that video, I'll paste it to save the trouble of clicking through.

Trainers,

Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and many more Pokémon are nearly here! Starting later this week, you’ll have the opportunity to catch more than 80 Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region in the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games. We’ve also implemented some new features to enhance your Pokémon GO experience.

Additional Pokémon: More than 80 Pokémon that were originally discovered in the Johto region in the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games, as well as Pokémon with gender-specific variations, will start rolling out in Pokémon GO.

New Evolutions: There are now more opportunities to evolve your Pokémon in Pokémon GO than ever before. Some Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will soon be able to evolve—into Pokémon that inhabit the Johto region! Be on the lookout for new Evolution items at PokéStops, which you’ll need to evolve some Pokémon.

New Encounter Gameplay: When you encounter Pokémon in the wild, don’t be surprised if they react in new ways as you’re trying to catch them. You’ll also notice the addition of new item carousels that allow you to select Berries and Poké Balls directly from the encounter screen. Hone your skills and catch those elusive Pokémon!

New Berries: Pokémon enjoy eating Berries, and you’ll have the opportunity to get two new Berries by spinning the Photo Disc at PokéStops—Nanab Berries and Pinap Berries! Giving a Pokémon a Nanab Berry will slow its movements, making it easier to catch. The Pinap Berry doubles the amount of Candy you’ll receive if your next catch attempt succeeds.

New Avatars and an Expanded Wardrobe: Now you’ll be able to give your avatar a complete upgrade! Customize your look with a whole new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items.

Be sure to use the hashtag #PokemonGO on Twitter to share your experiences as you explore your local neighborhoods with family and friends. We can’t wait to see the Pokémon you catch!

GEN2INTESIFIES, TRUE BELIEVERS!
Chikorita, Sudowoodo, Delibird, Donphan, Ursaring!!! Just a few of my favorites.

All this after I decided I wouldn't be catching any more until Monday (to keep both my 7 day streaks on the same day)

I guess it's time to use all those coins I've hoarded for additional storage. I hope something will be done about bag storage; extra berries means no room for all the potions/revives I have.

Someone here will be re-installing their app now?

EDIT: New UI features -

Ball selector, one on the left, one on the right, yeah that looks right. ;)

Seriously though, storage is going to be an issue for some. I'm glad I've updated mine to 450 now so there is room for berries. NOt sure I care for that one, but the other that slows down hyperactive crackhead pokemon that refuse to stay put and die (get caught) will be a real asset. Berry once for love, twice for speed, and then catch.

The new berries have their benefits already. Those Razz Berries are about useless. I can get rid of the 20 or so I have there and make room for the ones that will actually make them easier to catch.

The new Android version is rolling out right now, version 0.57.2!

I only ever saw my Go Plus turn yellow (for a new Pokémon to be caught) ONCE during the Halloween event for a Gengar, but I expect to see a LOT of yellow this weekend. I also anticipate longstanding gyms changing hands once again. Glad I stocked up on coins....
