Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I liked the very few and short parts where you got to play as Ashley. They could have made an actual survival horror game based on that concept.

No, it was well done. Just as I was getting the thought "How long am I gonna have to travel with her" she disappeared.AppleQueso wrote:for what it's worth, I thought the Ashley stuff was pretty well done as far as escort missions go.

The Sega references in the original Bayonetta just make me so happy.

It could be worse.... much worse. You could be forced to have an AI partner throughout the entire game, unless you can co-op.Ziggy587 wrote:(Talking about RE4 still) Oh good, Ashley got separated from me. I don't mind in games when you have to take care of / look out for some one that's constantly following you, but I was wondering how long I'd have to put up with Ashley. I was so happy when she fell into that trap!
IE... RE5.

Anyone play Disney Infinity?
I got the 2.0 starter set from BB (Black Friday deal). My wife and I started playing it tonight and we found it completely boring and uninspired.

I found the Avengers playset to be pretty run-of-the-mill, but the Spider-Man playset really shined with a huge variety of playstyles.FerretGamer wrote:Anyone play Disney Infinity?

I have found the game to be a huge improvement from the first iteration as you can now create interiors as well as exteriors and link them together. Some of the stuff people have made are very very impressive. If ever you want to play, I have it on PC and you can use the online codes to essentially get a free copy on-line.

I haven't played 2.0 on the console, but my 5 year old son and I have played the original and were not impressed. I've tried the version of 2.0 that was released for free on the PC and it was a definitely improvement, but still felt really clunky and unsatisfying.FerretGamer wrote:Anyone play Disney Infinity?

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
On the one hand I generally detest touchscreen controls and even in my young age I still find it incredibly hard to take iOS seriously as a platform since I've been gaming on traditional devices since I was 3. But I went onto the store and was just browsing around, and I saw the likes Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Dragon Quest VIII and Grand Theft Auto all on sale and doing well. I thought to myself that maybe I'm just not with it anymore.
My friends and I, we really got into Minecraft during the alpha way back in, I guess that was 08 or 09. Every one of us associates Minecraft with PC. We know of the console versions but we don't care; it's limited and trails a few versions behind (PS4/One versions notwithstanding). I also, happen to have a 7 year old step-nephew who loves Minecraft. This isn't surprising, as games do tend to be loved regardless of generations (see Mario and Sonic). What caught me off guard was when he wandered into my room and saw me playing Minecraft on my computer. "Minecraft is on computer?" Indeed it is. I asked him what he would play it on. "iPad". What do all his friends play it on? "iPad". He later showed me his favorite games on his mother's iPad. You know, a few kids games, Minecraft, but then I saw stuff that piqued my interest. Need for Speed Shift, Puzzle Bobble, all sorts of stuff I would play as a kid.
It hit me that this is how a large sum of children are experience games and becoming gamers. Not in front of small TVs in dimly lit rooms with a pillow on the floor. Not in stores playing demo units. Nope. They're sitting on the couch with these magical handheld devices. They know the older core devices exist but they don't seem to care ( although he wants a Wii U because it has Mario and a tablet so he can use it while his parents watch TV funnily enough). It's weird to me and probably the first thing that has made me feel old. It only gets worse doesn't it?
