Awesome! Why not announce this to the public? I don't give a crap that mine is going to be delayed, I just want a general idea of what's going on. (I'm a little bummed that I didn't pre-order from NewEgg like I was going to originally though... oh well.)

You and many others ask the same question every day. I hope to have more news when Hyperkin gets back from E3. All they've been doing is posting pics and not doing much else about the black units.

Apparently people are getting their black units in from Newegg.

Stone Age Gamer preorders are also getting black. As for Amazon, Hyperkin has been blaming Amazon, while Amazon has been blaming Hyperkin.

Ok, so I got some new games for it today.

Xexyz (NES) is recognized.
Super Buster Bros (SNES) is recognized.
My first Genesis game for the unit, Super Monaco GP, also was recognized. This puts the rest rumors that the Genesis port didn't work on some units. I was playing it with a SNES pad! BUT, reports that the Genesis port has the tightest grip have been true. It's tighter than the NES port!

However, one small issue. I don't think they nailed the issue with GBA saves quite yet. Although they do not get wiped anymore on the actual cartridge after being transferred to the Retron 5, I cannot copy saves from the Retron 5 back to any GBA game that uses EEPROM as the save medium on the cartridge (Super Mario Advance 3, Super Ghouls N Ghosts, a few others). It has a "Error Writing Save To Cartridge" message. However, Final Fantasy V Advance wrote back to the cartridge, but that's only because that game uses flash memory to save and not an EEPROM.

Normally, I wouldn't mind, but these ARE portable games after all. I'd like to play them here, save them, and have that same progress on the actual cartridge. Perhaps another issue that can be fixed with a future firmware update.

Just a minor gripe so far. I might have to try NES and SNES games with battery saves next to make sure they work right too.

I don't know sounds a little like companies not announcing recalls on computers >_< companies just like avoiding causing as much stress as possible but this keeping people in the dark seems to be worse right now

So how tight are these grips? Tighter than Intellivision, Commodore 64, or VIC-20? Do you have to wiggle the carts to get them in and out?

I don't understand why they add so many filters which nobody use rather than some nice scanline filter with more setting. (Like 10-100% of scanlines, bilinear, or something nice like PC emulators can do), its shame.
Sorry for my engrish :)

I never had any of those, but yes, I try not to wiggle. The advice that is given is to grab a corner and pull straight up. From tightest to loosest so far: Genesis > NES > SNES > GBA.

Also, you don't need to put the cartridges all the way in, in many cases. Just as long as it extracts the information and recognizes it, you're good to go.

Weeelp, a guy was selling one on NA for $100 shipped opened but unused. So I pulled the trigger. Let's see how this turns out...

I've always wondered who actually uses filters too. When I've tried emulators in the past I always played with the filters for a few minutes then decided that it makes a few areas and pixel patterns look slightly better, but always makes certain things look thoroughly awful. Then I turn them back off and enjoy the square pixels.
