Ive been watching a lot of the OVA Ranma 1/2 series. So far I think it's pretty good! I like the humorous and fighting edges that it has, because if it strictly involved Ranma's romantics then i'd get bored with it really fast.

Claymore did this too, heh. The last arc in the anime was terrible compared to the manga.Dylan wrote:I don't know how much was cut, but it did do the awesome thing were the show just ends smack in the middle and resolves nothing. To be fair though, the alternate option of tacking on an original terrible ending (Soul Eater) is definitely worse.CFFJR wrote: In the "typical shonen" category, I just finished watching Air Gear. Funny, I just bitched about gratuitous panty shots a couple of posts back, and here I am watching something by Oh! Great. Sometimes even I don't understand me.
It was fun, but like a lot of things it just made me want to read the manga.
Anime - 25 episodes and an OVA
Manga - 357 chapters
You think maybe some things were cut?![]()

Excel Saga is still currently ongoing, yet the Anime managed to wrap itself up pretty satisfyingly.
'Course, the anime is pretty different from the manga in a lot of ways, but still.

I've only seen a couple episodes of it. Not a bad anime well worth watching if you want something that doesn't take itself seriously. Right now I've been hooked on Gintama which is becoming my favorite series.AppleQueso wrote:Excel Saga is still currently ongoing, yet the Anime managed to wrap itself up pretty satisfyingly.

Some of my friends have been telling me to watch Another. Is this series any good?

Because it was brought up a couple pages ago, I re-watched the Hellsing series.
I still like it. Well, I still like it except for those last couple episodes. I think that was a case of trying to cram too much into a certain time-frame and realizing too late that it wasn't all going to fit. Those last two episodes just fell too rushed and jumbled for my tastes.
I still enjoy it overall (and I still really like the ending theme, even though I don't think it really fits the show), but I think the OVA's are superior in every way.

Well yeah, it's a comedy. Manga doesn't take itself seriously either, but the humor in it's a lot drier and there's a lot more social commentary and stuff like that.Godot102 wrote:I've only seen a couple episodes of it. Rewatching The Tatami Galaxy and trying to watch a bunch of other stuff at the same time.
Sword Art Online
Tari Tari
Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita
Accel World
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Shakugan no Shana
Usagi Drop
Space Brothers
And more...
Some of those are current so one episode a week isn't so bad. And who knows what I'll actually finish. I drop a lot of series that I am not enjoying.

Usagi Drop is awesome, watch it right away. But do not read the manga! You'll be sorry.
I watched Steins;Gate this past week and I was really impressed. That's the kind of creativity we need to see more of! I'm also tempted to read the VN it's based on. There's a translation out there, right?

I'm still plugging along with my laserdiscs of Magical Princess Minky Momo, which is still super-cute.
I also started Mobile Suit Z Gundam. So far, it's a big improvement over the original TV series. I'm really liking it and look forward to my continued explorations of the world of Gundam! Maybe I'll even put together a model kit at some point.
