What was the last movie you've seen?

Watched this last night with a buddy of mine. I haven't seen this since I rented the VHS from Blockbuster in like '96. It's on Netflix. There are a couple lines that are debilitatingly funny. The scene where they are arguing over "Don't Fear the Reaper" being a "pussy" song there's a line that Hubbs says that is so absurd I nearly pissed my pants.

(and no. it's not better than Dazed and Confused.)
Honestly, thats a strong claim to make...

The Dark Knight Rises. I apologize to any of those who enjoyed the movie, and if anything went over my head, but:
What the hell happened with this movie? It's a total nonsensical disaster.

First a minor complaint: Bane has nothing to do with anything. He has almost zero relation to the actual character from Batman. The only thing he gets half credit for is breaking Batman's back. No venom? A member of the League of Shadows? In love with Talia? He might as well have been Ra's Al Ghul's son for how consistent this movie is with the Batman universe.

This movie spends nearly 2 hours building up this big plot with tension between classes and socio-economic revolution, and it just goes absolutely nowhere. In the third act they just unapologetically chuck it all out the window. These plot points didn't even make sense in a vacuum though, because Bane is going to BLOW UP EVERYTHING WITH A NUCLEAR BOMB. Who cares about fighting for anything or changing anything in Gotham when the man leading the revolution is just going to blow it all to hell imminently? It's thorough nonsense.

The twist with Talia was almost good, except that it happens in the last 20 minutes of the movie. We're suddenly jerked out of the plot we just spent two hours building to briefly finish with a completely different one.

I personally have other discrepancies, but these are the primary issues that I just didn't understand at all. Again if anything went over my head that I criticized, I apologize.

There are explanations for some of that stuff, but ugh I don't want to bother right now.

Luke's just gonna come in with YEAH MAN YOU AGREE WITH ME *spoiler tags a list of random shit he thought was silly/nitpicks*

The movie ain't perfect. It's really dense and comes very close to flying off the rails completely, but manages to reign itself in just enough to work. This makes it very easy to nitpick and whatnot.

Your enjoyment of the movie hinges entirely whether or not you can get drawn in by what's going on with Bruce and the other characters. If it doesn't gel with you, the movie isn't going to work.

That said, I completely loved it. I guess it all just really clicked with me? I thought it flew right by and I can't wait to watch it again. I'm definitely not alone here either.

Nothing went over your head, it's just that this is Apple Queso leaving the theater after seeing TDKR.

TDKR is Phantom Menace all over again. Lots of people come out loving it because they want to.

Why so serious?

Come one, that video was hilarious. How could you not be happy after watching that clip?

This insinuation that anyone who disagrees with you is just... lying to themselves or something. It's annoying, if not outright insulting.

A Phantom Menace comparison? For realz? That movie was blasted to hell and back when it came out.

I'd say the opposite of that is true. You seem to be the one with all the objections, I just point out stuff, and you complain that I'm being critical. Forums might not be a good place for you if you can't accept subjectivity.

Yes. A Phantom Menace comparison. It got blasted by critics when it came out. Fanboys loved it until years later. And no I'm not calling you a fanboy, but I have to clarify as you'd probably take a clogged toilet personally.

You responded to every post from someone who came back saying they enjoyed the movie. You're every bit as guilty for dragging this whole exchange out.

And TDKR clearly wasn't blasted by critics at all. Phantom Menace comparison doesn't hold water.
