Too many fish together in a small basin pumped full of antibiotics swimming in their own shit.

That's what's wrong with it...

Try some nice fresh wild caught red salmon, then try that aquashit and tell me you don't taste the difference...

Many aquaculture locations dont pump their fish full of antibiotics, and vent their shit into vegetables gardens (which is called aquaponics). When they get the fish shit out of the tank, the need for antibiotics goes down drastically.

The two fishfarms near me do that and they taste almost as good as wild caught and more importantly are a fraction of the cost. And in my book, almost as good but meaning I get to eat it two/three times a week is better than great and two or three times a month.

Makes sense. They want feeders first to help maintain cleanliness, I hope. I don't mind tilapia as a filler for say fish tacos, but way too muddy tasting to grill whole.

Its acutally because of the ecosystem in the area near us. Even though the system will be in a greenhouse, and all fish will be killed instead of released wild, they require it. They are mostly scared Im going to go and drop one hundred someodd wild fish into a river. Weve got a couple German Shepherds who will make short work of any casualties...

I'm trying to pick up what you are putting down, but you're posting blanket statements. I am worried about mercury poisoning. Anyone can google the content in salmon, and it seems about the same. So what is the big deal here?

It's not like we're discussing anything subjective. Cutting the world's population has no affect on supply and demand in the long run. People will still purchase $20K dinners if they have the funds, so your opinion on that is moot.

Of course there is a limit to what people can eat, who would even question that? That opinion has nothing to do with economics, pricing, or perceived value. The population of any country has very, very little to do, if anything with supply and demand.

There is no one with a huge net cleaning any ocean, and many "organic fish" have to be de-wormed due to their propensity for eating bacteria.

I feel the same way, but TN state law mandates the system must be started with Tilapia or Catfish. And Tilapia are alot more hardy in aquaponics than Catfish here.
