I think that's good, but only one at a time, correct?
Shouldn't start February's until January has been settled for a bit...

DSH: this was what Racket had originally said -

Do we want to just let the volunteers pick an option or to suggest a few and the community can vote on it or what?
Volunteers could offer 2 to 3 suggestions and then community can approve. If we can figure out the first month quickly, we can take a bit more time defining more concrete proceedures.

Looks like people want to vote on a list of ideas. So you come up with a list of ideas. Top voted idea is the theme. Other not used ideas can roll over into other people's theme polls if desired, meaning they might get picked up next time.
I mean if we didn't vote, my theme would of course be King's Field/Shadow Tower month. Nobody wants that but me (
you pathetic wussies). So I have to throw some other ideas in the mix. Fair enough. The theme voting method falls in line with the concept of a more democratic TR anyway.

yeah, I think the goal is to get more people involved. So voting on a handful of themes just makes more sense than telling everyone what they're playing as we've seen how that's worked out in the last couple years.

No, that’s fine. I will relish creating a Sophie’s Choice for you all
So we don’t post our poll until a month or so before?

Probably also means picking themes that include accessible ways to participate, and/or pointing them out as suggested ways to join in. Granted, most things probably have the simple suggestion of "go emulate it" there...but retail things like clone consoles or compilation discs could also be nice things to highlight.

yup. I don't emulate personally, so compilation discs or digital re-releases do make a big difference in my own participation.
I've got some fun ideas for my month.

That seems the logical choice, don't want to overwhelm people with voting threads. Also don't want conflicting voting threads for attention. So my month is March, and I'll post my theme voting thread in February. That kind of thing.

Yeah if nothing else, spread them out a bit. The polls don't need to run for a whole month, but we should have room between these first few so they don't overlap.

Definitely agree that they should not overlap, but I'm wondering if there is still a way to get the schedule together at a better pace than one month out.
My main thought here is that, the sooner we know of various themes for the months, the earlier we can decide to hold off on games that might be relevant for that month. It would suck to have just played a really cool game that would have perfectly fit a theme.
For example, I have this game with anime chicks all over it that I want to try out, but I have a feeling it might fit Elkin's theme

Just an idea, either way I am very excited for this, I think participation will certainly increase
