Alan Wake - amazing with Remedy's usual charm like the original Max Payne's. Similar to Deadly Premonition, less wacky, and actually fun to play with good gameplay and a budget.

Silent Hill: Downpour - a garage sized budget (lack of), but you could tell the people who worked on it were fans. It's got cool characters and a good story, but it's riddled with technical problems and some pretty bad graphics (horribly lame monster designs). Worth playing if you're a fan.

The Evil Within - it's Shinji's follow up to RE4. Tons of cool enemy types and bosses. However, play this on the new gen, the old versions look horrible and lose a lot of atmosphere in some areas.

I'm not sure who steered Ack wrong on this one, but they should be slapped. My favorite comparison is The Last of Us (I got both when I got my PS4), while I liked that one, it only had about 3 enemy types and very bare bones gameplay. The gameplay to Evil Within absolutely destroys it. It's got at least like 20 some enemy types and a dozen awesome memorable bosses. An excellent fusion of Silent Hill and Resident Evil meets the Matrix. Kind of shocked about Ack's response there. I thought it was fantastic and ran through it twice. If you like God Hand, RE4, Vanquish, etc, I don't know why you wouldn't like this a lot too. It's quality Shinji Mikami and just like those, he puts gameplay first.

Silent Hill: Homecoming - do you like the American movie, where the staff thought that Silent Hill was about mindless violence and no substance? This game is as American as Silent Hill could get in that regard. Unlike Downpour it has a solid budget and a good look, but the story is total garbage, and the combat is super forced and utterly annoying. PS, you CANNOT invert the Y-axis, even if you change it in the options, it does nothing. FYI.

Alien Isolation - System Shock 3. Outstanding, best installment in the Alien franchise since the first movie to me. Quite long. But like Evil Within, I'd refrain from playing this on the 360, probably looks like dooky. The game is oozing with tremendous style and aesthetics that resonate with the old, 70's sci-fi tech and awesomeness... so I'd say it's kind of important and it's a better experience if you play this on something newer.

Alien Isolation looks like the perfect horror game if it wasn't like 15 hours long. I don't think many horror games should go beyond like 6 hours to be honest.

I don't have a 360 so I can't answer any of those questions but surprisingly I do own three games for the system, tempts me to grab one at some point and this thread is helping with that. Anyway, I own Deathsmiles, Raiden IV, and Otomedius Excellent. I'm on the lookout for Akai Katana and Raiden Fighter Aces as well.

I ordered copies of Alan Wake and The Evil Within. Not so sure about the Silent Hill games. (I've never beaten a single Silent Hill actually. The furthest I ever got was in the original Silent Hill when it released so many years ago.) I'll probably pick up Alien Isolation on 360 despite the lesser graphics. Graphics aren't really what makes games great for me personally, so no big deal.

While we're on survival horror - I'm thinking that the definitive version of Silent Hill HD Collection is on the PS3.

It was pretty much hated all the way around for the inexcusable bugginess and horrid new soundtracks, but I want to say that I read somewhere that Konami released a patch that cleaned up a lot of the gripes on PS3 but they didn't even bother to release one for the 360 version.

I really liked Alan Wake all the way until the end, which has WAY too much padding between the last bit of story and the actual final confrontation.

I hesitate to talk about The Evil Within because not only have I not personally played it, but I also don't want to influence your opinion of it. Everyone seems to feel differently on it though. It didn't seem to be my thing though from the LP I watched.

I'll only address the ones that I've played. Downpour isn't bad, but it's just okay. It's a FUCK ton better than Homecoming, though. Dead Island is fun and relatively unique in that it's a survival horror RPG (though few parts are actually scary); do NOT play Riptide, though, as it's a steaming pile of shit. The Evil Within was, in my opinion, garbage. I felt zero connection to the characters, the story bored me, and I had no real urge to keep playing except to say I beat it. Homecoming is fucking rubbish, don't waste your time.

ALIEN ISOLATION IS THE PERFECT HORROR GAME. I played it on PS4, so I don't know how it is on 360, but good god, it's amazing. It's patched (at least partially) for PC VR support, and I keep hoping they'll add PS VR compatibility (though I doubt they will), but dude, it's fantastic. Scared the SHIT out of me.

I played about 4 hours of the Evil Within before putting it back in the backlog. The story was pretty rubbish and I just lost my drive to keep playing. The game play and atmosphere was great and very RE4, but the characters and story just didn't grab me at all.

Is Ori and the Blind Forest still in the works for the 360? Saw a physical "definitive" version in a store not too long ago for the Xbone.

That game is fantastic and would make an excellent swan song for the 360.

I wish, because my PC can't handle the Steam version.
