Why are they going backwards? Kind of hate when sci-fi does that... "Here's a prequel, despite being produced decades later and the tech will look 10x more advanced".

I was hoping for a series based in the mirrorverse. Doesn't that seem ripe for a new Trek series?

As long as they avoid lens flare, I'll be ok.Xeogred wrote:Why are they going backwards? Kind of hate when sci-fi does that... "Here's a prequel, despite being produced decades later and the tech will look 10x more advanced".

Quick thoughts on Abrams-Trek: Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto suck. Karl Urban rocks though. The supporting cast is better than the main characters. RIP Anton Yelchin--I will think of you when I beat the shit out of the car in SFII.

First look at Star Trek Discovery. Cbs is throwing down some money on this, high production values and on location shots. Also for having no connection to the Abrams films the look and camera work sure reminds of Star Trek 11.

Lens flare. Shitting on canon. Klingon's look horrible. The fan film looked better. Uniforms are wrong. Overly serious. It seems action focused and not Star Trek like the JJ trek garbage. Not paying 6 bucks a month for this. Looks shit and it will fail. Generic sci fi with Star Trek slapped on like JJ trek.strangenova wrote:

I kept holding out hope and being optimistic and open minded but yeah, I don't think I'm going to enjoy this. It might be fine but I just don't like the direction especially if they plan on keeping it in continuity.
Seth MacFarlane's new Star Trek parody "Orville" looks fun though.

To be fair to JJ, his first Star Trek wasn't too bad I thought. Definitely held alot of promise, but then Into Darkness happened. YikesSegata wrote:Lens flare. Shitting on canon. I agree about the Klingons, I don't like the new look. As far as the action focus, it's a trailer, it's meant to draw in. I'm sure the show will have light hearted moments. Plus an all out war with the Klingons across the quadrant and tensions with Romulans will cause plenty of action.
As long as it's faithful to previous Trek and doesn't take itself too serious like most modern shows, it could be pretty good.
