In my mind, if the game lacks a formal credits roll or THE END type screen then a "personally set goal" = "beaten." With a second gen game its generally after the game loops. With a sports game it can be after a season or whatever, though some arcade sports games do have credits screens in the more traditional sense (Street Hoop for example). Some MMOs like have "main stories" that can be completed.Jmustang1968 wrote:I dont think there exists an argument to convince me a sports game or MMO can be 'beaten'. The question really came to me when reading through the Games Beaten 2015 thread. What would quantify me adding a game there? If I win the NCAA tournament in Coach K College Basketball, does that qualify as beaten? Would I need to play through an entire season + tournament and win it all?Jmustang1968 wrote:I dont think there exists an argument to convince me a sports game or MMO can be 'beaten'. I agree that most of these are at the player's discretion. There are arcade games where it is much more cut and dry. There are modes like the Michael Jordan thing in past NBA 2K games which maybe you could break out and qualify for the Games Beaten thread.

I don't mind putting sports games down. I beat Pro Evo 2015 early this year by winning all the main club and country cups. That's about 45-55
hours of gameplay.
hours of gameplay.
