Wow...surprised to see Pre-Sequel over Shovel Knight for you. It occurs to me that the latter is the only game you played from my own list of the Top 5 of the year.noiseredux wrote:1. Wolfenstein: The New Order

I'm hoping to dig into COD:AW today. Escape Goat 2 will likely get played this year, along with the Tell Tale games.
I also thought TNO, while solid, was arguably the most overrated game this year, sorry

Re: What's your 2014 Game of the Year?
Dave, be reminded that my Top 10 is sorted by how much I personally enjoyed the games, not how 'good' I think the games are. Pre-Sequel was the first BL game that I was able to sink major time into solo player. I'm not done w/ the campaign yet but I had a blast. Shovel Knight was fantastic, but yeah, I had more (hours of) *fun* from Pre-Sequel.
I don't know why you'd apologize for thinking New Order was overrated. I loved it and wasn't aiming for your approval when I put it at #1, so no need to be sorry haha.
Ugh, definitely play Wolf Among Us. Even if you ignore every other TellTale game.

yup, I did the same as far as "personal fun factor" which is why I took shit for Destinynoiseredux wrote:Dave, be reminded that my Top 10 is sorted by how much I personally enjoyed the games, not how 'good' I think the games are. I can see PS getting a higher ranking if it is your first BL solo trip. Certainly a fun game, if incremental for the series.

Earth Defense Force: 2025
But that was already decided in February.

Re: What's your 2014 Game of the Year?
I haven't played too many games that came out this year, so I'll just list the ones I have played:
Ikururga (PC version
)
Strider 2014
Tower of Guns
Out of these, I'll say it's Strider. It was much better than I expected (I make sure to have little to no expectations when looking at series reboots), even if it was a bit easy.
There are some games that've come out this year that I'm looking forward to playing:
Alien: Isolation
Daedalus - No Escape (Played the demo and enjoyed it.)
Freedom Planet
Metal Gear Rising (Have it installed, just haven't gotten to it yet.)
Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth (Played the demo, haven't bought it yet.)
The Talos Principle
Wolfenstein The New Order (I'll wait 'til this gets cheaper)

Your ranking was the tipping point for me - I'm definitely in on checking out Wolfenstein this year.noiseredux wrote:if you want to read WHY I chose each game: http://www.rfgeneration.com/news/pc/noi ... 4-2951.php

It was on sale on Steam during the Winter Sale. I managed to grab it for 50% off.retrosportsgamer wrote:Your ranking was the tipping point for me - I'm definitely in on checking out Wolfenstein this year.noiseredux wrote:if you want to read WHY I chose each game: http://www.rfgeneration.com/news/pc/noi ... 4-2951.php
