Well I guess you have life shorted out

. I just hope you don't ever get an expensive to cure disease, or something that might restrict you from working. Gee, we're so lucky that unexpected things never happen in life.

Also, what's wrong with a 9-5 job?

I kid, of course. I sometimes envy 9-5ers (like my wife) since many of them can punch the clock and leave their work behind them without having to think about it again until the next 9am working day comes around. I certainly have some days where I put in 12+ hours or some weeks where I do 60-70+ hours of stuff related to work, but I generally get to decide most of my own hours so I don't feel like someone is forcing me to be somewhere I'd rather not be. Plus, I only end up being physically at my workplace for something like ~120 days a year or so (and many of those days are "half days")…the rest of the time I work wherever/whenever I might like to…or not.

That's also how a lot of people in the fine arts work: periods of furious work crossed with periods of doing very little or nothing, usually all at their own discretion. In any case, if you enjoy what you do it only rarely feels like "work" or "something you do for money".

anyway, I'm a person for who 9-5 works better than whenever I feel like it, cause it helps me focus.

Yup - the idea of "bracketing off" your working life from the rest of your life is certainly one with a lot of merit. It is something that I find very difficult to do.

My problems I would have with school was homework and that looming project or whatever deadline I had to complete on my own time. So that could bother me.

When I leave the office, I flick a switch. I dont think about work at home, amd my nights and weekends are all to myself (unless I am working OT). The work itself isnt very entertaining, but the job is great and the compensation is good. I have semi flexible hours, no punching in and out, and overall laid back atmosphere. I wouldnt be doing it on my own time, but it pays well enough to support my endeavors outside of work and to support my family.

When I first saw the thread title I thought it said,

Pirate University or Trade school?

In that sense or the actual topic, and as with most things there isn't a black and white answer. Pretty much the answer is what do you want to do with your life, what are you passionate about and what are you good at? Nothing is guaranteed no matter the amount of education or experience you have. If you want to be successful you are going to have to work hard and even with a Pirate degree your first job will probably still be swabbing the deck.

This thread is enlightening. I quit my job today. Gonna get $3000 per month from the government. Already ordered my first 60" TV.

Just don't fall into the trap of spending too much on the meal tickets; they'll complain of "I haven't eaten in three days" or "the bone is poking through my skin"; that's just them trying to hit up the sugar daddy.

1. A hospital can NOT deny me medical treatment. Period. Regardless of how expensive the treatment is they HAVE to do it..

But.. I have very good insurance

2. If it restricts me from working.. My insurance still covers it. As I can't get fired for having a disease that puts me into the hospital.
