That's all they meant with that.

Also, electronic preorders are taken for the same reason any other kind of pre-order is taken, so folks can go ahead and pay for a copy of a work that interests them before its release. And any sort of production takes time, even for ebooks, so the book may well be written and even edited well before preo-orders begin while the publisher makes other decisions, such as formatting, production, etc., or deals with legal issues. The ebook could also be held back while waiting for the print version to finish production so they can be released simultaneously.

Why is no one talking about Square Enix pullling the plug on Chrono trigger for Android? I was finally gonna go "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" to SE by buying Chrono Trigger on Google Play but the page 404s and you can't search for it through the store.

I don't want to emulate it but I want a mobile version. Guess I have to buy the DS version. But I'll have to buy it used. No money for you Square Enix.

I hope for that but they said they would fix it in the coming days. That was in june '13 and they never fixed the problems that came in the 4.3 update. My fear and guess is that they quietly pulled the plug and wont do anything chrono trigger for a while to amp up the next port in 2 or 3 years.

I understand why an author or publisher might offer an ebook preorder, but not why anyone would buy it. There's no advantage over buying it on launch day.

That sentence still doesn't make any sense. Is the reader supposed to be discovering why CT is a true work of art...between its plot points?

First, that excerpt was from Kotaku, not the author. Second, I don't think it matters what the book says, you seem to already being viewing it from a negative predisposition. Keep an open mind.

Many of times you can get a discount or bonus by preordering. You also might preorder to get it done with so you wont forget later when it comes out. Or maybe you just want to support the author/developer

Most of my preorders are so I don't forget that something is coming out. I hear about it, I order it or preorder it, and then whenever it comes out it arrives without me having to worry about it.

I don't understand what your issue with the description of the book blurb is. It's not too much different from something like "From Ultima to World of Warcraft come explore what has made computer RPGs great and where they have stumbled."

My mind is open. I'm going to buy the book. I'll give it a chance and evaluate it fairly, just like I did for CT itself. If I hate it, I'll drop it early - like I did for CT itself.

Here's the thing: It doesn't matter if Williams wrote the blurb or not. He chose to use that language to advertise his book on the website of a tiny kickstarter-funded publisher. If he wanted to change anything, he would have.

It's not unfair that I expect this book to be bad; the very language its author/publisher selected to sell the thing to me suggests incompetence.

My negative impression based on limited information might change once I've learned more. How does having this impression make my later evaluation less valid? If I had a positive impression now and later declared the book to be awesome, would I still be making the error you implied?
