"Pseudo-sequels", spin-offs, loosely-connected games, etc...

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

^ That's a good one. And the SWAT games are spun off from Police Quest, right?

Ultima has a bunch of spin-offs, but they're pretty easy to identify as most have the word Ultima right in the title.

Akalabeth: World of Doom is the prequel to the Ultima series and sometimes called Ultima 0.

Ultima: Escape from Mt. Drash has little connection to the rest of the series, and was only released on the VIC-20. It's incredible rare. And awful.

There are two Worlds of Ultima games: The Savage Empire and Martian Dreams.

Also the two first-person Ultima Underworld games: The Stygian Abyss and Labyrinth of Worlds.

Two Runes of Virtue spin-offs were released only for consoles.

And of course there is Ultima Online.

Not sure. Positive ESWAT had no connections with King's or Police Quest.

What was the other "Quest" series?

Has the Ironsword series been mentioned?

You know I never thought to look for info about games on Japanese websites. Seems like a good idea for some of the more obscure stuff.
I just linked a picture, really. (fixed it in the post with a link to the site if you click it.)

Here's the wiki page for anyone's perusal. There's a bit more information that I didn't bother with because it didn't seem especially relevant.

I've used a lot of Japanese sites for walkthroughs to obscure games, and typed the names of games into Youtube in Japanese for more info on stuff without a lot of info. The Japanese side of the net can be helpful at times.

Dear God, and that was probably the best of the series/spin offs.

did anyone say Enemy Zero + D, D2?

I like to think of Haunting Ground as a Clock Tower game.

I also consider Snake's Revenge a MG game even if Kojima doesn't.

Interesting... Apparently Dragon Crystal (GG, SMS) is a sequel to Fatal Labyrinth (Genesis). I definitely have to check out Dragon Crystal now.
