Bernie should get as much credit for the Dreamcast as he got panned for the Saturn.. I really think they fired him too early... Even though the pricing was probably one of the reasons the DC went under in the end... Not the biggest obviously...

Sure, the DC died anyway, but I don't think there's much that anyone could've done to prevent that.
By that time Sega was almost literally hemorrhaging money, there was no upside to the outcome.
Aside from pouring in more money and prolonging the inevitable, which would have seen them in total financial ruin, the writing was on the wall.

I agree that Stolar gets way too much flak for stuff he didn't have much control over.
And as you say, his work regarding the DC and leading up to that memorable launch (even though he was relieved of his duties just before that launch), was top-notch.

Virtual Fighter 5 was excellent. The upgraded version is also fantastic, but it just seemed like no one cared. A cerebral fighter just doesn't seem to grab people's attention that much anymore.

I looked on google images on the magizines covers and I believe its the one that has the space channel 5 girl on the cover. I think at least. Couldn't see the wording all that well but it looked like it said 100 new game's coming so that leads me to beleive that it is the issue I was talking about. Look it up soon tho. I don't want to look crazy lol it really does have the halo bit in it!

That's issue 4; pretty early issue.

lol at the Chakan, Lunar 3, Oni, and Team Fortress rumors, though. (The Daytona 2 and Outrun 2 ones kind of ate at my insides just now.)

damn yeah, whenever I read about canceled DC games I'm slightly crushed. Oni seems like it would have fit in well with the DC library, no?

Yeah, I was kinda thinking that too. It would have been cool to see what the packaging would have looked like even.

Maybe some day the homebrew community (and copyright law) will advance to a point where porting games over to the DC is commonplace.

Also, I forgot that I saw a rumor about Daikatana in the article. That's one rumor I'm pretty glad didn't make it.
