Ugh. One of my best buddies, who has a three week old newborn, had to evacuate. He, his wife, and his son are headed further inland to stay with relatives as he's lost power.
Wish I could do something for the guy.

It's pretty crazy out there. My girlfriend was not so lucky. Although she was at home with me, she's a researcher at NYU Langone Medical Center... Oh yeah, she has enzymes and RNA crystals in -80° Celsius freezers. We turned the TV on last night to check on how things were doing (we with a friend were playing CivIV to pass time), and the first thing on was her work being evacuated. Felt like a scene from a movie.

Good to hear that a lot of people are ok without too terribly much mess to clean up so far.

Thanks, friend.s1mplehumar wrote:You and the lady can bunk here if your roof collapses or something. Feel free to stow your gaming gems in the basement until the storm blows over. East of Gettysburg, and 2 1/2 hrs. West of Philly. It's not too bad here; mostly just persistent drenching rain.
It was actually pretty uneventful here. The worst of it is now Met-Ed is trying to clean up the 6 consecutive downed poles right outside of town. Where I'm at, the whole town is on a big hill, more or less. Everything just drains away to the low-lying areas which are about a 1/2 mile outside of the borough.

Just another day here in NH. Would never guess that I'm as close to NY and NJ as I am, today, 'cause it's been intermittently sunny.

I'd like to echo this sentiment. I hope all stay safe and are fortunate enough to not have destroyed property.Hobie-wan wrote:Good to hear that a lot of people are ok without too terribly much mess to clean up so far.
