i do remember as a kid i put on a cheat that allowed me to grind forever so i built up a huge combo trick and ended it on a grind on a pool then went on my two week christmas vacation leaving him grinding, i wish i took a picture of the score when i got back it was huge

You should try the original reboot on PlayStation. I remember it being particularly difficult and it was closer to the arcade game in the sense that it had no story.
