Oddly, there are a good amount of snes and ps2 rpgs I quite enjoyed. The majority of ps1 rpgs that weren't ports just felt like they didn't stand the test of time.
I quite like the tales series, the mana series, the star ocean series... It just felt like the weakest game in each series was on the ps1.
The first Suikoden was a damn fine game though.

I agree about Legend of Mana, not a fan compared to the first two. In general though I think the PSX has JRPG's leaps and bounds above what we've gotten since then and I might prefer them overall to the SNES. The SNES might have some more select favorites for me, but the PSX had JRPG overload and I've enjoyed tons of them.
