All the more reason to ban Monopoly from this list of top 100 Wii games.

Also why are Shiren the Wanderer and Arc Rise Fantasia on the list when the person who nominated them admittedly has never played either and says he thinks they might be worth putting on the list?

Super Paper Mario - A brilliant addition to the Paper Mario series melding the tradional 2D with a new 3D aspect.

While this came out on the 360, PS3, PS2 and even had a version for DS and PSP the Wii version has some very good things going for it against the "realistic graphics" versions and it is the much better port compared to the PS2. The motion controls do well here and actually help get that feel of shooting the ghost with your own proton gun and tossing out the trap. While trying to rope the ghost as it fights the proton stream you get a real feel of tension as you move the controller around; it does not feel tacked on. There are also some differences in game mechanics and tools/power ups to keep it fresh even if you played the other version.

There are also some changes to the pace of the story and as well as where cut scenes were placed compared to in game dialogue. I will honestly say I preferred the story editing in the Wii version compared to the more "movie like" versions. A lot of people kinda groan with the goofy cartoon graphics, but they work and don't look as awful as some people will make out. They have their own charm.

Don't get me wrong, I like all kinds of games: Demon Souls, Alan Wake, Twilight Princess, and Carnival Games. Keep in mind that my kids and in-laws are only going to be playing Carnival Games. Sure, the graphics are not cutting edge but it's a lot of fun.

Speaking of party games, Mario Party 8 blows. I'm not going to recommend it for this list. The earlier versions were much better.

A bad party game would be something like this:

Monopowii (yeah, I just went there) is actually *decent*. Carnival Games ranks pretty high up with Sonic Eraser on my "Worst Games of All Time" list.

Baroque. This old Sting game is dope. Fucked up dungeon crawler.

Thought I was the only one who loved this. Technically, it's not a sexy triple-A game... but the twisted story that you have to unravel is great and the dungeon crawling is awesome too. Rogue-likes are one of my favorite genres, and Wii was the only console to represent this generation.

...
Shiren The Wanderer

Confirmed. This is another niche title that many people won't enjoy... but if it's your niche then it's awesome. I was going to add this game myself, but figured I had already put enough games on the list.

I had a shitload of fun with Fusion Frenzy back in the day, but I recognize that it's a terrible game. It's irritating to look at a list of Wii games I would possibly want to try, and then have Carnival Games stick out like a tumor. But regardless of its individual merit, we've already got Warioware on the list and that's enough minigames for everyone.

I agree. Bad games can still be fun, even if they don't deserve to be part of the list. But many of my absolute favorite games on Wii won't appeal to the majority of gamers, so do they belong either?

I loved Blast Works and dropped a ton of time into the campaign, additional games, and level editor. Baroque was an absolute blast and swallowed dozens of hours of my life. Castle of Shikigami is a fine game, but is super-niche. All of these games are on the list and are "keepers" in my collection... but are hard to recommend to others because they have limited mainstream appeal for today's gamer.

So where do we draw the line for this list? Monopoly doesn't appeal to me, but I think Fortune Street and Dokapon Kingdom were both a blast and they really aren't that different. Onechanbara and Monkey King didn't do it for me... but who am I to say they won't be the right games for someone else when I'm loving Mushroom Men and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus? And as much as I dislike Carnival Games, it has found a receptive audience who apparently enjoy it much more than I do.

(Of course, the disadvantage of saying "don't judge" is that silly trolls take advantage... but there's not much that can be done about that. This is the internet after all.)

I am actually rather curious about the Wii version now. I enjoyed the "experience" of playing the 360 version, but found the gameplay rather sloppy. The game seemed like a spawn fest. It was very hard not to die constantly and then wait for your allies to resurrect you. It says a lot for the writing, graphics, humor and memorable events in each stage that I still enjoyed the game. It really felt like an awesome, cinematic experience worthy of the Ghostbusters name, but the gameplay felt so half-assed and rushed. I never played any other version of it. I heard the PS 3 version was pretty crappy compared to the 360 one and it seemed like most people ignored the Wii one.
