Glad to see someone else say this. I never understand why some people keep hoping for another Chrono game... it'd be terrible and coming from a team of people that more than likely had 110% nothing to do with the first two games, considering half of them make up Monolith Soft and just moved on elsewhere I'm sure, like all Square's old teams that broke off last gen. I bet there's hardly anyone else left that has been around with them over the last several generations, sans Nomura who was a character designer suddenly turned into an epicly bad director/creator with too much power. Other franchises like Mana, etc, went down the drain big time over the years. A new Chrono would be terrible.

Let it retain its glory and just be over with. Something that needs to happen with Final Fantasy.

FFXII I liked, but it would've been better off called Vagrant Story 2 or something. But they had to print more money. Just like their shit MMO's. Slap on the FF name, oh yeah. Just slap away.

Lost Odyssey is the best and closest thing to the PSX FF's. Gee, wonder if some good former Square devs made it...

This. Chrono was already massively losing its roots with Chrono Cross, so what reason do we have to believe a new Chrono would be any good? The FFXIII crowd would eat it up, of course, but the older fans would pan it. Do you really want to see an anorexic Crono wearing four belts, whining about his feelings or his lost memory?
To clarify, I'm not saying that Chrono Cross was a bad game, but it was kind of a cruel joke to call it a Chrono game when it was so dissimilar to the original that we all know and love (or, at least most of us.)

I think the Call of Duty series has lost its roots to an extent. It used to be intended for PCs and adapted for consoles; now it's the other way around. Plus, it has added nothing to the FPS genre since 2007. Remember, the original COD was groundbreaking to an extent, as was COD 4. Nothing like that has come from the series since, and I'm thinking that the exodus of employees from IW two or so years ago is most likely responsible.

Final Fantasy IX was the end of the series for me. That was the last game that featured the right combination of high adventure, open ended exploration, and a minimalist approach to belts and zippers.
Fair enough, I feel the same. But as you see many people (for some reason) also consider FFX as a true FF game, so as I said it's a different thing to most people. I too thought that the open ended exploration and world map full of secrets was a huge part of the game.

Others said it's the battle system (which changes a lot, so I don't get what their problem was with the changes up to 12 (I understand 13 is WAY too much of a radical change for most)).

In that regard I'd expect for other people FF to be about different things, so for them FF 12 and 13 can perhaps still be classic FF games.

@brunoafh

well, it's really 1 belt and what looks like.......belt straps for looks.....well it's nowhere near as bad as that stupid FFX girl or Squall so we shouldn't really complain xD

Agreed

This. I was really confused why people dislike FF 12 and FF 13, cause they ARE good games, but perhaps you are right that they shouldn't have had the FF name slapped on. Then maybe people could judge them for the quality of the games themselves. But as they DO has the FF name on them I won't judge the people who judge them as FF games. It was Square's fault for not seeing that the games they made, though not FF like, were good and should have been given the chance to blossom in their own franchises.
Lost Odyssey is the best and closest thing to the PSX FF's. Gee, wonder if some good former Square devs made it...
And it's exclusive to the only platform for which JRPG fans, and people outside the US in general, don't care about. Sigh......fuck you Mistwalker.....well if it turns out that Windows 8 can play 360 games at least I can finally play it.

Kind of a different discussion, but at the very least I love how Chrono Cross still feels like a product of that specific dev team, the "Dream Team" I think they were called who later on became Monolith Soft. I find Chrono Trigger, Cross, and Xenogears all to be very comparable... character and dialogue wise, the pacing that isn't as traditional as old FF's or other JRPG's, crazy philosophical stuff everywhere, the composer, and just the whole design and flow of the games, etc. I don't think Cross was as big of a dip as a lot of fans seem to think, but I have always preferred Trigger myself since it has more futuristic elements which I'm really biased for, and I just love the simpler story.

But yeah, just throwing that out there that I love how similar these three games feel to me personally. Maybe it's just me?
