^ Thanks, that clarifies and I kind of picked up on it after aaron responded. I'd imagine the conjecture back and forth was pretty entertaining and heated at times 8)

There's also the fact that it is has only been up for three days...

So far we've raised almost $750 in 3 days. Most of the individual item listings have 20 or more page views, with a healthy number having over 40. There are already hundreds of bids.

I also have some week two publicity plans (that should start going out late this week).

i agree that the back and forth in-thread banter is less this year, but that was probably inevitable. if that's a goal of the auction, then I don't know that I have a good idea of why people are bidding.

Good point.
I hope everyone here realizes that I'm here to only help the charities we sponsor, and that I'm working for the betterment of racketboy and the alzheimers association.

Hey Guys,

Mike, here from GameGavel. As Dave mentioned things seem to be going well. There are a few hundred bids and you should all be getting bid and out bid notices letting you all know to go in and bid more if you want an item and to increase the $'s going to charity.

I have done some promoting as well across a few other gaming communities and know we are getting some bids outside of just the Racketboy community.

As far as alphabetizing, not sure what you are asking. eBay doesn't sort by alphabet? And someone mentioned Galleries? Can you let me know what you are talking about there? The listings are showing any and all photos that were submitted by all of you.

We were down a bit overnight due to some site upgrade issues but all back to normal now. Carry on :)

thanks for chiming in, Mike. I think it helps if people are reminded that you're not entirely an outside entity or somehow non-respondent to concerns or questions :D.

I also noticed you've bid on at least one or two items...

So outside of the items not being alphabetical, what is the huge disappointment and your issue with Game Gavel? "Something seems off this year" is pretty vague. Actually most of the post is.

aaron wrote:i actually agree with luke to a certain extent, it seems very impersonal. i know the ultimate goal is to help a charity but a nice bi-product of this auction was the camaraderie and bid wars and flame fests that erupted in the enormous thread. counting bids was a HUGE pain in the ass last year though.

i also just kinda hate gamegavel's layout. looks really...amateurish. i don't know. plus where are the damn gallery views?! wtf?!

Aaron sums it up pretty well. The auction seemed a lot more tight knit when on Racketboy, and I'm not seeing a similar interest in the auction this year in posts, traffic, bids in #, and bids by $. There is also the disconnect between two websites; it doesn't flow well.

And I understand that "something seems off" may seem vague to you, but I'm guessing the guys who have been here for years know exactly what I mean. That's not your fault at all, and I didn't mean to throw you a curve, just "typing out loud".

Just seems to be a lot less interest this year in the auction. Hopefully I'm wrong.

I cannot even begin to fathom how much work dsheinem put into last year's auction. He alone was our entire system for organizing items, tabulating bids, collecting $, following up on deadbeats, and delivering the $ to the charity.

That's a huge and selfless load of work, so I can't help but think that complaining about losig a bit of personal charm is kind of lousy. This isn't dsheinem's job. This is something he's organized (and organized well) out of his own time -- which remember has to be budgeted between a job, wife, child and other real life responsibilities. I'm sure moving to GameGavel has made things run a lot smoother for the man behind the curtain.

If the only complaint about GG is that it's just not as cuddly as last year's thread, well I don't know... post here everytime you up yr bid or something. But I don't see any compelling complaints that amount to a "disappointment" of an auction.

Just started running a nice 300x250 add on GG and also our forums to promote your auctions:

Oh, nice. And thanks again for letting us run this on game gavel. Its reallt appreciated.

On another note, keep in mind people that since we are using a proxy bidding system this year early bidding wars are much less likely to occur. As the auction progresses I expect we will see more traffic and higher bids. People are just testing the waters right now.

Man, shame on me for being out for so long, I could've donated some games. But for the new bidding site, I didn't see any photos, is that normal?

Click on the link, then click on the item. It's a bit confusing at first, but the photos are under the items page.
