Had a blast! We saw some guy destroy Centipede and Roboton 2084 @ Barcade. Barcade far exceeded my expectations!

I now own, EXO Squad, Herzog Zwei, Espgaluda II Black Label Platinum, and Mushihimesama Futari Ver 1.5 Platinum Hits.

(Apologies for the poor pictures - we focused more on games than pics. Definitely need someone who's more handy with video. :P)

Five people total isn't the best turnout, but we had a lot of fun anyway. Barcade was great - dsheinem, don't worry, you'll have fun there. Each play is only a quarter, but we still probably each spent quite a few dollars on games like Galaga, Robotron, Smash TV, Strider, Berzerk, Centipede, Donkey Kong Jr., Satan's Hollow, and Gauntlet. There was a guy there who was simply amazing at both Robotron and Centipede. I was pretty happy with my measly 25k points in Centipede, this guy passed 300,000 like it was nothing, although he did break out into a sweat at 400,000. Apparently his high score is over 700,000. I pale in comparison.

After some good beers and some great games, we got pizza, more beer, and homemade cookies that my girlfriend made (sugar cookies ftw), and played some more arcade games (unfortunately not on a cab).

recognize this screenshot?

The Ninja Kids is one odd game.

We topped the night off with five-person Mario Kart 64 (4th switches out). Great times, great times. Next time more of you should come!

Oh, and of course, not Racketboy meetup would be fun without someone playing with their Ballz.

  • 1. I owe you guys a night of ten-player Bomberman (seriously, no Saturn?)
  • 2. I've got a dedicated camcorder, but I'd look like a clumsy voyeur with it
  • 3. ..00k on Centipede? WTH?

I finally got my SNES multitap that I ordered forever ago. Not sure why or how that took so long. Anyway, now that I got it, Bomberman on the SNES can be a bit more fun, although of course 10 player Saturn Bomberman would be best. 8)

Would it be crass to ask if your home has the heat on?

I live in an apartment, so heat is a somewhat stable 68°.
